I thought a good nights sleep with rest and relaxation would cure my out of place back, but neither sleep nor relaxation were anywhere to be found. Both of the boys were up all last night, so Mommy didn’t get enough sleep either. I woke up this morning, and the same stinging pain is still with me. Will relaxation and healing rest happen today, probably not 😉

First Trip to the Pumpkin Patch
James was off work on Friday, so we gathered up the kids and went to a local Pumpkin Patch. Thade had been looking forward to the trip for quite a while, but once we got to the patch, he changed his mind. He wasn’t too cheerful, but the rest of us had a great time. The weather was just right for finding the perfect pumpkin.
We ended up bringing home two pumpkins, one for each child. Right now the pumpkins are sitting by the front door, so it looks like I decorated. We are planning on going to another pumpkin patch next year, by the end of the day Thade said that it was a lot of fun. Maybe Thade will enjoy the messy job of decorating the pumpkins 😉 This year I’m going to try and make Toasted Pumpkin Seeds. I hope they turn out super yummy.
What Halloween traditions do plan with your family? Are you toasting your seeds, or using them for any other recipes?
No Painting This Weekend
Well I don’t think we will be painting at all this weekend. This morning I had something that has never happened to me before happen. I was getting up after nursing Dylan, and I completely threw out my back. My right side burned with pain, and I couldn’t move.Thank goodness my hubby was home to take care of the boys and me too.
I hope to be up and going soon, but there is no way that the dining room is getting painted this weekend 😉
Painting, Pumpkins, and Splinters
Thade was running across the hardwood floor yesterday, and I heard him say ouch. He ran over to me and had me kiss his big toe, and I thought all was well. At bath time, he was still complaining that his foot hurt, he lifted up the hurt toe, and on the very bottom of his left foot was a splinter, and it was in deep.
After he was finished in the bath, I sat him up on the toilet, grabbed my tweezers, and tried my hardest to get the splinter out. He screamed, he cried, he demanded Daddy, and his blanket, and that splinter would not budge. I knew what had to be done, I ran downstairs and found a brand new needle out of my sewing kit to extract the splinter. By that time Thade was very upset. I knew he was going to be scared of the needle. I remained determined and told him how exciting it was to get the splinter out. I showed him step by step what I was doing, and he calmed down. About 30 seconds later the splinter was out, and he was feeling better with a cool NASCAR Band-Aid on his foot. Continue reading
Long Day, Long Night
Yesterday was Dylan’s check-up and he did fairly well, it was a really long day for everybody. The appointment was also a little sad for me, our favorite physician is leaving the hospital. She is moving to a new family practice in Washington. We will miss her dearly. Our boy’s love her too, so it is going to be hard to switch to a new Doctor.
The weather wasn’t cooperating at all yesterday. We had tornado watches until 6:00 p.m., and severe thunder storms all day that returned at night. I started getting the boys ready at 3:30 p.m. to stay ahead of an oncoming storm. It took me 20 minutes to get everything together, and the kids loaded into the car. Just as we pulled into the parking lot, it started to pour. Dylan is not a fan of the rain, and Thade didn’t want to get out of the car. I gathered my strength, and told Thade it was going to be fun running in the rain. I was carrying Dylan in the (heavy) car seat, and holding on to Thade’s hand, and we ran as quickly as his toddler feet would let us.
