Stretching the Grocery Dollar

I’m trying to make my grocery dollars stretch, and shopping locally to save on gas money. I keep hoping that we will get an Aldi, that would save a bunch, and I have the perfect location for them. There used to be a grocery store just a few blocks from my house, now it is just an empty building, perfect for an Aldi. A girl can dream 😉 The closest Aldi is 20 minutes away, and a good $5.00 in the gas tank.

I checked out the local IGA and saved big on Coca-Cola products last week. I purchased four 12 packs for $10.00 w/ coupon. Their prices on groceries were still a bit pricey, but the loss leaders were very competitive. They also double coupons and offer lower priced gasoline by purchasing certain sales items in the store.

How are you stretching your grocery dollars? Where are your favorite places to shop?

September Project Check-In

I’ve finally finished cleaning and decorating the foyer. I have to admit this room was a bit of a catch all, and dumping ground for just about everything. This is also the first room when you walk in the house, and the first room my hubby comes home to after a long day of work. I was tired of it being a mess. I wanted a nice and peaceful room to sit and hang out in. I used only what I had on hand to decorate, and I didn’t bring in any new pieces of furniture.  Continue reading »

Fall has arrived!

Today I woke up and it was cool in the house, and cool outside too. Fall has finally arrived. Autumn is by far my favorite time of the year. I love the weather, the leaves, and Halloween. My hubby’s birthday and our anniversary are both in Autumn too. I love making hearty Autumn dishes to serve to my family, and enjoying a cup of yummy hot tea in the cool mornings. I’m so happy that Fall is finally here!

What are some of your favorite things about Fall? Do you have any Autumn family traditions?

Slipping and Sliding

Today was going to be one of those days. If I could have stayed in bed, I think I would have been better off 😉 Its Monday, and that means its shopping day. I took the boys out and tried my hardest to stay ahead of the rainy weather. One hour later we were finished, and it had just started to sprinkle. This is happening all to often around here, maybe I need to switch my shopping day. I got the boys in the car, the trunk loaded, and we headed home. The closer we got to the house, the harder it rained. Continue reading »

Kitchen Destruction Time!!!

ugly-wall.JPGugly-wall2.JPG

I’m still feeling stressed out from yesterday, and what is the best way to get rid of some stress… Demo out the ugly wallpaper in the kitchen! I grabbed my trusty hot pink blade and step ladder and got to work. It is going to take a while, and I’m going to need my hubby’s help. The ceiling is pretty high, and well Nico is pretty short, and very accident prone. I see pretty painted walls in my future! 😉 Back to the destruction.
