Eat Your Veggies

Did anybody watch the Discovery Health Channel show called The Truth About Food last night? It was titled How to Feed Your Kids, and it was all about getting your picky eaters to eat their fruits and veggies. I only got to watch half of it because it was bath time. In that all to short half an hour, I learned a few new tactics to try when it comes to dinner time.

The show featured food experiments to get kids to eat. One of my favorites was the veggie loving child actors placed at school lunch tables. The actors ate their veggies and encouraged the kids around them to eat the veggies too. The non-veggie lovers seeing the actors eat quickly ate all of their veggies too. Peer pressure=veggie lovers. Homemade Noodles

Finally a homemade recipe that turned out great! I used the recipe for Egg Noodles found at Cooks.com. The noodles are so delicious and made plenty of leftovers. This recipe was hubby approved, but not toddler approved, just yet.

I was surprised at how simple and affordable the noodles were to make. Eggs, Flour, Salt, and Water and I was paying $3.42 for the frozen, not anymore! I separated the dough into 4 sections. I then rolled the dough onto waxed paper (lightly dusted with flour) right on the kitchen table. I used a pizza cutter to cut the noodles, and I let them dry on the waxed paper as well. The clean up was pretty easy, as most of the mess was on the waxed paper. Continue reading »

Busy Tuesday

Well I didn’t get everything finished yesterday, bummer. Today I have a few more errands to add to the list, and a new sewing project. My hubby is out of town for a meeting and he left me his car, so I think I’m going to take it for a few errands today. Here is the plan for today.

  • Wash and put away dishes
  • Wash 1 load of laundry
  • Put away 3 loads of laundry
  • Pump 1 bottle (vacation)
  • Get gas for Hubby’s car, maybe an oil change too
  • Work on sewing burp cloths, and laundry sorter
  • Stock freezer with yesterday’s frugal buys
  • Bills and balance checkbook
  • Today Walgreens is supposed to open, so I’m going to drive by and hope for the best Continue reading »

Busy Monday

I wish that I had a little more sleep last night, or maybe a few hours in the day. Today is going to be one super busy day. My hubby has a meeting out of town tomorrow, so I have to run a few extra errands today. Here is the plan, I hope I make a dent in it:

  • Gas up my Car
  • Get an Oil Change
  • Go Grocery Shopping
  • Fold 2 loads of laundry
  • Put away 4 loads of laundry
  • Wash and put away dishes
  • Clean up the kitchen
  • Bring the trash cans from the alley to the back porch  Hubby already took care of that for me. Thanks sweetie!
  • Empty all of the wastebaskets upstairs and downstairs
  • Clean the litter box
  • Take out the trash
  • Pump 1 Bottle (for vacation)
  • Start my sewing project (burp cloths for friend’s baby shower)

I think I should have started a little earlier today. I’m off to get some breakfast. Happy Monday!

Dinner Tonight

After Friday’s failed homemade Re-fried Beans, I’m a little nervous about making dinner tonight. I’m attempting to make Homemade Egg Noodles for my Chicken and Noodles.  This is my hubby’s favorite meal, so I hope that the noodles turn out yummy.

My quest for making homemade noodles began when I purchased a bag of frozen noodles at the store for $3.42 (ouch). Add in 2 boxes of Chicken Broth for $4.56, and dinner is already up to $7.98 before you add the chicken. I knew there had to be a way to make the meal a little more  frugally. Continue reading »
