Snowed In

I was worried that this was going to happen, school has been canceled and we are stuck indoors for another day. I just hope that the weather will improve soon, there is too much that I need to do outside of the house, and a few really important errands that must be run. I’m a wee bit stressed at the moment, Springtime where are you?!?

Handmade Notes

To help pass the time on this icy day, Thade is busy writing handmade Valentine’s for the Preschool Valentine’s party next month. I wonder if he will grow tired of writing Thade so many times…

For the Valentine’s I used scrap-booking paper, a cookie cutter, and decorative scissors. I picked out a cute Valentine’s themed rubber stamp and some heart stickers to complete the Valentines. It is a nice (and quiet) project for a cold and snowy day.

Snow, Maybe Ice Day

I haven’t been outside yet, but I’m pretty sure that it is all ice outside. Although the snow is starting to fall just a bit, so maybe there is a little snow mixed in with all of the ice. Either way, it looks like we are staying in all day.

There is plenty to do though, and plenty to clean too. I’ll be working on the downstairs floor today, polishing the furniture, and washing the windows too. I just hope the kiddos are good for me today, it looks like we are going to have a long day indoors.

What about you… Are you iced in, or are you enjoying a mild Winter day?

The Bears are Finished

Friday night I worked hard, and I finished hand sewing the rest of the Bears. Now I have a big bag of bears to give to all of the Preschoolers in Thade’s class. Next I need to get to the store, so I can start making the Teddy Bear snack mix.

A Messy Adventure

After all of the errands were run yesterday, James asked if we wanted to ride along to the Hotel. Sure! I thought it would be fun to get out of the house for a bit, and the kiddos would have a fun time too. We got James bags packed and ready for his trip, and I loaded up the car with necessary kiddo items too. We had a long drive ahead (3 hours), but we were going to get there.

We left a little before 3:00 p.m. and many stops later we arrived in Tulsa. Both of the kiddos eyes lit up as they saw all of the buildings and bright lights. We couldn’t stay too long, so we got James checked into the Hotel, and we went back out in the cold to grab some dinner.

We ate quickly, and said our good-byes and then we were back on the road to make the 3 hour trip home. It is always a little bittersweet for me, I know James will have fun at his convention, but we will miss him a bunch. I was hoping that my trip home would go smoothly, but Thade had other plans…

I asked the boys to be really quiet as I navigated our way through Tulsa traffic, I knew if I could make my exits, I could do just fine all the way back. They were really good too, we made it out of town, and we were passing all of the suburbs, when Thade started to worry. He was worried because it was dark, he was worried because Dylan was upset, he was worried that we weren’t home all ready, and then the yucky-badness happened.

Mom: We are on our way, we will be home soon.

Thade: Why can’t we be home now!!!

Mom: I know, it is a really long drive, we still have over two hours to go.

Thade: I want to go home and have a trash can by my bed.

Mom: WHAT?!?!?!?!

Thade: Oh no! BLAAAAAAAAA.!

Mom: Thade? Did you just throw up all over the car???

Thade: Yeah, but its not that BLAAAAAAAA!

Mom: Oh no, hang on I’ll find a safe place to pull over.

Here is the thing, we were out in the middle of nowhere, with not even a shoulder to pull over onto. So I kept talking to Thade, and kept driving until we found the next town. When we made it to a gas station, I pulled over to check  out the damage, at that point Thade had thrown up 4 times, and the mess was gigantic.

I had just a handful of baby wipes, so I ran into the gas station to get some more. I asked if they had any, and a really nice lady said no. I said that my kiddo just threw up all over the car, and she said I’ll give you a roll of paper towels for free, and I’m really sorry.

I really appreciated the kind gesture, and I got Thade all cleaned up and into a clean change of clothes. Once he was feeling better, we got back on the road to our next stop. We drove about an hour, and I stopped off for gas. It was freezing outside, and I was beat.

After the stop we had to make one more to retrieve a lost binky, and to soothe grumpy Dylan, but finally after that last stop both of the kiddos drifted off to sleep. I had an hour and a half left to go, but thanks to the peace and quiet, it was a smooth ride.

We have to make the trip once again this week, but this time I’m going to be prepared. I’ll make sure and pack plenty of extras, and a full pack of baby wipes too.
