Nico’s 2009 Resolutions

It is almost 2009 and I am ready for a brand new year! I always hope that the new year will bring wonderful new changes, and this year I just hope that everything will be better soon.

I’ve got my 10 Resolutions to kick off the new year:

  1. I plan to write 500 posts for Nicostuff (I’d like to do 1000, but 500 sounds reasonable).
  2. I hope to become more patient.
  3. I will become a more attentive wife, and better Mother.
  4. I will become a better homemaker.
  5. I will do my best to care for my friends and volunteer for our community.
  6. I will shop less and save more.
  7. I will take the time to take better care of myself.
  8. I will do my best to visit my family more often.
  9. I’ll try to wash the dishes every night… well maybe
  10. I will take more pictures, bake more cakes, and enjoy everyday!

I’m sure the list could go on and on, but 10 is a pretty good start. I hope that everyone has a Happy and Safe New Year! Wishing everyone all the best in 2009!

Oh Pancakes

This week’s breakfast de jour is Pancakes. Last week my kiddos were all about the Cinnamon Rolls, but this week they are obsessed with Pancakes. Monday evening we went out to dinner, and both of the kiddos ordered pancakes.Thade said it was the best day ever because he had pancakes for breakfast and for dinner too.

The one problem is that I can’t seem to make enough of them. First I started with a mix that I had on hand, and they were gone in a flash. I then whipped up a homemade batch, which left me two yummy pancakes. So this morning when Thade yelled out “Mom make some pancakes!!!” I decided I had better make a double batch, and you’ve probably already guessed, there were none left! Thade ate four of them this morning, and Dylan two.

I guess next time I’ll be making a triple batch, or keep praying that we get an IHOP soon!

Time To Get Back to the Kitchen

Well after all of the holiday cooking, I’ve taken a little break from the kitchen, and the pantry and freezer are depleted… Time to take stock and make some lists. This week I’ll be:

  • Taking inventory of the freezer and making a list of much needed items
  • Take inventory of the pantry and making a list for Aldi
  • Baking a double batch of Banana Muffins, some to freeze and some for this week’s breakfasts
  • Baking a double batch of Homemade Waffles for the freezer to make quick and easy breakfasts
  • Baking a few loaves of Bread, some for the freezer, and a Cinnamon Raisin Loaf for me
  • Baking a batch of Brownies for snacks
  • Organizing all of my new kitchen tools that I received for Christmas

Time to get back to the kitchen!

All About the Errands

Well today is one of those days that will probably put me in a bad mood quickly… I’m running lots of errands that I’m not too happy about today.

First off property taxes… enough said, I’m grumpy.

Then on the the hospital to pay a bill that insurance wouldn’t pick up… yeah I’m getting a grumpier.

Then to Wal-Mart, crowds, grumpy people, yeah I’m one of them today too…

At least James is watching the boys for me while I run the errands, so I won’t have two kiddos in tow, so at least that is something to be happy about.

Almost Finished

Thanks to a long nap from Dylan, I got all of the outdoor lights put away. I just need to box up the Santa and the little Tree, but I have to get into the tiny/scary/claustrophobia inducing storage closet to get the boxes, and I don’t want to do that at the moment.

The wreaths are down, and the ornaments are all off the downstairs tree. Now all of the decorations look so sad… I still have to put away the boy’s upstairs tree, and I think that will do it for all of the Christmas decorations, until next year.
