Did I Hear That Right…

Last weekend James was in the dining room and made a request. He asked for new curtains for all of the dining room windows, and told me to go shopping for the fabric. Really, shopping just for fabric?!? I made a special trip out yesterday, and picked up 11 yards for the curtains.

I also spotted a few Holiday fabric remnants to complete the tree skirt. I had better get to the projects, I hope that the boys will cooperate and be extra good for Mommy today.

Oops Potato Soup

I was making Scalloped Potatoes for dinner last night and somehow I accidentally added in too much water. Perhaps I was distracted by too many boys in the kitchen. When the Scalloped Potatoes made it out of the oven they were super soupy, even too soupy for Dylan to eat. What will I do with this failed dish…. Blend it up and call it Oops Potato Soup!

I waited until the Scalloped Potatoes cooled a bit, and then I carefully spooned them in to the Blender.

I added in a little Whole Milk until I got a nice smooth constancy.

Since we had already had dinner, I put the Potato Soup in a container, and its off to the freezer for later.

I think when I reheat the soup I’ll (accidentally) add in a little Shredded Cheddar Cheese, Chopped Broccoli, and maybe even a little crumbled Bacon.

I think the soup would go great with Grilled Cheese sandwiches, or Bacon Sandwiches, although you can never go wrong with Homemade Garlic Toast or Crunchy Croutons. I just might like Scalloped Potatoes even better as Oops Potato Soup.

Apples and Pears

This Fall a good friend of the family went out and picked at a local orchard once the season was finished. He visited my husband at work, and asked if I could use a few Apples and Pears. I told James, of course!

For about a week James came home everyday with two big bags of fruit. I think I ended up with about a 1/2 bushel of Apples and 1/2 bushel of Pears. Time to find some recipes for all of this fruit.

I see a lot of Apple Pies in our future, and I had better bake one for our friend to say thanks!

Is Separation Anxiety on the Way Out

Things seem to be going a bit better in babyland…

Thade and I went to Church this morning and Dylan didn’t make a peep. Dylan usually throws a gigantic fit if he sees me make a move for my car keys. I also took Dylan to MOPS on Friday, and there was barely a whimper out of him as I left the nursery. Could the months and months of separation anxiety be all over? I kinda hope so.

Organizing With Glass

I love to reuse clear glass jars to organize all around the house.

The Salsa Jars make perfect containers for all of Thade’s Art Supplies. The taller jars hold markers and paint brushes perfectly. The smaller jars are great Crayon keepers too.

I’ve also used a few Jelly Jars to keep Thade’s Show and Tell Items neat and tidy

The reused jars also make an appearance to help organize the pantry.

The Recycled jars keep all of the take-out condiments organized, and my pantry neat and tidy.

What do you re-use around your home?
