Total Wash Out

Well I only made it to one store today, bummer I missed out on the free milk at Dillons.

I had taken both of the boys to Wal-Mart for a grocery run, I put Dylan in the snugli and Thade in the cart and off we went. The weather was very warm and sunny when we left the house, but as I was checking out I heard a loud clap of thunder. It was pouring outside. My hubby called and was hoping that I wasn’t out shopping, but yep there I was checking out. I hoped that maybe the rain would calm down a little so we made our way to the exit. I saw a slight break in the rain storm, put a burp cloth over Dylan, and we made a run for the car. Just then the rain came pouring down, Thade was soaked, Dylan was screaming, and I was a drippy mess. I got Thade in the car, Dylan next, and then an associate spotted me, and put my groceries in the trunk. The poor guy was soaked too, but what a good Samaritan, I really appreciated all of the help. Poor Dylan was so upset, he is not too fond of bath time, and he really isn’t fond of Summertime rain showers. Thade thought it was funny getting drenched at Wal-Mart, and I had to laugh too.

Every item was wet, so I had a fun time drying off all of the groceries. Hey, at least the kids don’t have to take a bath tonight.

Whew! July is a long month, and I have to budget an extra $75.00 for the Fourth of July B-B-Q. I’m going to try and save a little bit by buying my staple items at Aldi. Every little bit helps.

What to do Today

I’m debating on making another run to Dillons for more cereal, today is the last day for the buy 3 for $6.00 + Free Milk sale. I’ve also got to run to Wal-Mart for Pull-Ups and cat food. Maybe the best bet would be to go to Walgreens for Pull-Ups they are on sale this week. Dylan is still sleeping, so I have a little bit of time to get my lists together. Either way I think I’m shopping at 2-3 stores today.

Tried a new store and saved

I decided to give another store a try, and I did really well. I shopped at Dillons last week for their loss leaders, and for the free gallon of milk with purchase of 3 boxes of cereal. My three year old drinks about 3 gallons of milk a week, so an offer of free milk helps a lot.

The store was nice, and not too busy even though we were shopping mid day. When I got there I headed right over to customer service and signed up for a Plus card. You get a big discount at check out when you use their card. They also have little yellow signs all over the store that have discounted prices when you use the plus card, it is like a scavenger hunt for the best deals.

I shopped just the items listed in their ad and took my coupons. Dillons also doubles coupons up to $.50, sweet. Here is my list:

3 boxes of Lucky Charms for $2.00 each + $1.00 off coupon = $5.00
Earned 1 free gallon of Milk ($2.37)
1 box of Golden Grahams for $2.00
2 boxes of Honey Nut Cheerios for $1.67 each + $1.00 off coupon=$2.24
Earned 1 free gallon of Milk for ($2.37)
Fritos Chips for $1.88
1 4 pack of Double Roll Sparkle Paper Towels for $5.49 + $.50 coupon doubled= $4.49
1 12 pack of Double Roll Angel Soft Toilet Paper for $5.49+ $.50 coupon doubled= $4.49
1 Dozen Large Eggs for $.88
1 3lb bag of frozen boneless skinless Chicken Breasts for $5.64

Grand Total $29.24 with tax. I had $4.00 in coupons, and my total in store savings were $25.42. Not too shabby. I also got a few in store coupons for cereal and 2 more gallons of free milk for the next shopping trip. I’ll definitely be shopping and saving there again soon.

Man I love this store

Walgreens was one of my stops last week. I was there to purchase just a few of the sale items. I was shopping for Coca-cola, Diapers, and Lotion. I was loading up my last purchases the 4 12 packs of Coke when the Manager came up to my cart. She looked in my cart, and noticed that I had picked up a pack of size 2 diapers. She asked me if I wanted to swap my single pack of diapers for 2 cases that had just gone on sale for half off. I was so excited, I had to get both cases. The savings were huge!!!

Here is what I got:

3 12 packs of Coke for $2.75 ea= $8.25
1 12 pack of Sprite for $2.75
2 Gold Bond Lotions for $4.68 each + I had 2 coupons for $1.00 off each= $7.36
1 Jumbo pack of Pull-Ups for $10.49 + coupon for $2.00 off= $8.49
1 Huggies Shea Butter body wash w/coupon attached for $1.00 off for $2.39 + after coupon price = $1.39
1 Huggies Clean Team Shampoo & Conditioner for $2.39 + I had a coupon for $1.50 0ff = $.89
8 48 count Huggies Diapers size 2 for $5.74 each + $1.50 coupon= $44.42

Grand Total of $ 79.50

I had to check the receipt to see the crazy savings. Shopping at Walgreens with my $8.00 in coupons saved me a total of $58.78, and I earned a $5.00 gift card. I’m so happy, and I really can’t wait for our Walgreens to open here!
