Back to Baking

Ever since we welcomed baby number two I’ve been playing catch up all around the house. Today I got ambitious and decided to bake some vanilla cupcakes, Thade decided to help too. He helped stir, and line the cupcake tin. The cupcakes turned out great, and I was happy that I remembered how to use the oven.

I’m going to get the pantry stocked back up with baking supplies for cookies and cakes. My mom brought me silicone cupcake cups, and they were so fun to cook with. I can’t wait to bake again.

Typing one handed

This might take awhile, Dylan has the hiccups and is refusing to sit in his bouncy chair. So I’m trying to type while keeping him entertained. I have a pretty small list of things to get done today, So I’m going to try and take it easy. Last night was a really long night, and I’m so sleepy today.

I made it to Walgreen’s

Thanks to my awesome hubby we made it to Walgreen’s today, and I saved HUGE! I’ll list the items that I saved the most on:

*3 12 pack Pepsi products
*2 Puffs Tissues
*3 Walgreen’s Free and Clear Laundry Detergent
*2 Walgreen’s Aluminum Foil
*2 Walgreen’s Paper Towels
*Walgreen’s Paper Plates
*Walgreen’s Toilet Paper 4 ct

All of these items cost me just $23.76, if I had bought them at my local store I would have spent $ 42.16, that is a savings of $18.44! I’m so happy about my savings. The trip to Walgreen’s was definitely worth the cost of gas.

The shopping did not get done…

Yesterday I got up early, got the boys dressed and ready to go out and do some shopping. I was motivated and ready to get out of the house. I took the boys down to visit dad at work, and Thade tripped and bonked his head. He didn’t feel like running errands after that, and it was lunch time for the kids, so we headed back home. Both of the boys took a nap after lunch, so I finished up all the laundry. Oh well the shopping did not get done, but the laundry did.

Feeling Trapped by Gas Prices

Gas is so high here $3.29, and it is going up again this evening. I’m feeling a little trapped by these rising gas prices. I’m a stay at home mom, and now I’m really a stay at home mom. My few trips out are going to get cut even more to try and save a little.

I shop out of town at Walgreen’s and Aldi to save, but a 40 mile round trip is now going to cost me about $7.00. That eats up my savings. What to do. My shopping choices are pretty limited here, but we are getting a Walgreen’s in the future so that will help. I still plan on shopping at Aldi too so that will cost me in gas. I guess the best thing that I can do is organize my shopping trip, and plan ahead.

Does anyone have any good plans for saving during the gas price increase? Please feel free to leave your suggestions and comments.
