Seven Days

This morning my hubby informed me that is now just seven days till we go on vacation! I can’t wait. I’m still getting the house together for guests, and freezer stocked with food. I feel like I have been cooking something for somebody non-stop. There is still so much to be done, I should have started earlier.

I deliver my five dozen cookies this morning. Thade was super happy to see that many cookies in the house, I had a few left over for him and hubby too 😉 I think this weekend is going to be busy, lots to clean, and lots to cook. Better get to it! Have a great weekend!

Early Risers

Today I woke up extra early. I hoped to get a few moments (to myself) to do chores around the house, the plan failed. I have early risers and nap skippers in my house. I have come to realize that I have to get up earlier than them to get anything done. Trust me when I say that I am NO MORNING PERSON!!! This is going to be quite a difficult task.

I was up and nursing Dylan at 6:15 a.m., I luckily got Dylan back to sleep at 6:30 a.m. I went in to see my Hubby before he went to work at 6:45 a.m., and then I grabbed a quick shower. I was out by 7:00 a.m., so I quietly went downstairs to make breakfast. Thade must have smelled the yummy Green Tea waiting for mommy. I heard little footsteps running around the upstairs hallway. Thade was wide awake and ready to go. Continue reading »

Catering Gig

A few months ago I started sending cookies with my hubby James to work every Friday. I had hopes that someone would enjoy my cookie creations and be in need of a caterer. Last night I got my first call. I’m catering a baby shower this weekend, and I’m so excited. I have to make 6 dozen cookies and deliver them on Saturday.

I’m still making cookies for James on Friday, I usually send 2-3 dozen. I’m going to be baking 8-9 dozen over the next two days. It looks like I’m going to be in the kitchen for quite a while 🙂  I don’t think that the boys will complain, they get to eat all of the extras 😉

Homemade Noodles

Finally a homemade recipe that turned out great! I used the recipe for Egg Noodles found at Cooks.com. The noodles are so delicious and made plenty of leftovers. This recipe was hubby approved, but not toddler approved, just yet.

I was surprised at how simple and affordable the noodles were to make. Eggs, Flour, Salt, and Water and I was paying $3.42 for the frozen, not anymore! I separated the dough into 4 sections. I then rolled the dough onto waxed paper (lightly dusted with flour) right on the kitchen table. I used a pizza cutter to cut the noodles, and I let them dry on the waxed paper as well. The clean up was pretty easy, as most of the mess was on the waxed paper. Continue reading »

Dinner Tonight

After Friday’s failed homemade Re-fried Beans, I’m a little nervous about making dinner tonight. I’m attempting to make Homemade Egg Noodles for my Chicken and Noodles.  This is my hubby’s favorite meal, so I hope that the noodles turn out yummy.

My quest for making homemade noodles began when I purchased a bag of frozen noodles at the store for $3.42 (ouch). Add in 2 boxes of Chicken Broth for $4.56, and dinner is already up to $7.98 before you add the chicken. I knew there had to be a way to make the meal a little more  frugally. Continue reading »
