Where did it all go wrong?

This month I’m trying to cut our grocery budget and making more from scratch. Last night I attempted to make Re-fried Beans, and I miserably failed 🙁 Where did it all go wrong? I sorted, rinsed, let sit overnight in plenty of water, rinsed again, all ready to smash, and the beans are still hard as rocks!?! I added water, and let them boil for 2 hours, and lets just say the results were not pretty. I’m not giving up though, and I’m going to try to make one more batch. Any tips and pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Indoor Picnic

Last nights dinner was super simple, Sloppy Joe’s and Fries. Thade and I decided to have a picnic indoors. We sat down on a little blanket, and had a fun dinner. Complete with yummy Chocolate Ice Cream for dessert.

Stocking up the Snacks

My darling hubby James is off work until Monday. With him home I need to stock up on the snacks. Today I made another batch of No-Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies, and Chex Mix too. I make my Chex Mix with cereal only, that seems to be everybody’s favorite around here. The cookies are taking a little bit longer to dry as the humidity is super high today. I hope that this batch does not disappear as quickly as the last batch did 😉

Almost Finished

O.k. I needed a little break from all of the running around today (four stops so far). We got the second trip of shopping finished just before the rains hit, but I did not get the trash out in time. I’m also making a change in my dinner menu. I found some great produce buys so I stocked up on fresh fruits and veggies. Tonight I’m going to be making B-B-Q Chicken, Corn on the Cob, and Fried Okra. My hubby has been requesting okra for quite a while, and the store finally had it. Let’s see if Thade likes the veggies 😉
