Around The House

This week I’m planning menus, making shopping lists, gathering recipes, folding laundry, washing dishes, and getting my timeline of Thanksgiving cooking together.

Today, while the kids are busy at school, I started cleaning upstairs. I changed the bedding in the boys room, swept up the hallway, and tidied up Agnes’ room too. Then I moved downstairs to take out the trash and start washing all of the dishes for Thanksgiving dinner.

I then started worrying about the state of the utility room, and all of those other rooms that nobody ever visits on Thanksgiving, and it got me thinking “the family isn’t visiting to critique my cleaning skills, they are here for the tasty food. ” After that I worried a little bit less about all of the cleaning tasks that I wouldn’t get accomplished. The ones that I do get done,  my kids will destroy them as soon as they are home from school, so there you go.

I’ve got to stress less this holiday season. What about you… Are you getting your home ready for Thanksgiving?

Thinking of Thanksgiving

Just a little over a week away is one of my very favorite holidays. I’m so ready for Thanksgiving! I’ve got my menu planned, and lists made. I’ve been testing out some new breads and veggie recipes.  I just can’t wait to start cooking!

I’m still sticking with my veggie plan, and I’ve got a great turkey-replacement for Thanksgiving dinner. I will be making turkey for the family, and all of the traditional trimmings, but the veggies are mine!

I love these vegan Kale & Quinoa bites! They are a perfect substitute, and amazingly tasty too. I grabbed a pack of them at the store this morning. I don’t want to be without them for Thanksgiving dinner.

In A Bit Of A Rut

I honestly thought that when the kiddos went back to school I would get so much accomplished. I had plans to tackle painting projects around the house, deep clean everything in sight, work in the yard, and take Miss Mia for daily walks.

I haven’t accomplished a darn thing…

School Is Out Today

The kids have an inservice day today, so everyone is home for the day. It has been a loud day, and I am looking forward to the quiet of Tuesday.

Agnes lost her second tooth today, so she was extra excited!

I’ve just been cooking, cleaning, and trying to keep up with the kids.

I’ve been sneaking in a little crochet here and there too. I’ve been working on a scarf for me.

I finished it up last night while watching The Walking Dead and The Leftovers. I love crocheting during Sunday night t.v.

This Weekend

This weekend was pretty darn fantastic!

We all felt better, and thank goodness for that. I think I missed an entire month due to sickness.

We decorated the house for Halloween! We also stocked up on Halloween candy.

We visited our gardening buddy at the hospital, he is doing well and recovering from surgery. We also hit a few yard sales on the way home. I came back with a big bag of yarn for $5, and seven dessert plates for fifty cents.

I’ve been working on teacher gifts for Christmas. I’m making a bunch of scarves for the kids to give their teachers. They are perfect to crochet during a Football game.

We took lots of naps too.

The best part… We got to meet our beautiful baby nieces. My Sister (in law) Jill and her fiancee, and my mother in law visited on Saturday. They brought their darling little girls.

It was so fun having little ones in the house again. Lots of hugs, cuddles, feedings, and tiny toes. Seriously, I miss babies like crazy, so I am glad that these little darlings are in my life.

The girls are now one month old, and absolutely precious. I love those girls with all of my heart.

I have to say, it is pretty awesome being an Aunt!
