Finally Finished

I have been working on Dylan’s afghan for about five weeks now. Today I finally finished it.

I was hoping to have it finished before Dylan’s birthday, and I made it with a month to spare. Agnes wants one too, so I see some yarn shopping in my future.

His favorite color is green. I used four different shades for the afghan.

It is soft, warm, and cozy.

It fit Dylan’s bed perfectly too.

I hope he likes it. Hopefully he’ll be surprised when he comes home from school.

The Snow Is Falling, But The House Is Quiet

The boys are back to school today, and it is still snowing out there. The roads were in great condition, so it wasn’t too bad of a drive this morning.

I have a few little chores to do this morning, but I’m slacking off a bit. The house is quiet, and Agnes is happily playing, so I’m sipping some coffee and enjoying the peace.

The boys are hoping that school is let out early today, but I don’t think that is going to happen.

Snowed-In (Again)

The snow started a bit earlier than it was supposed to yesterday. When it was time to get the boys from school, the heavy snow started falling like crazy.

The kids were pretty sure that school was going to be cancelled again on Tuesday. I think we ended up with 8-10 inches of snow, and thank goodness school was called off again.

They couldn’t wait to get outside and play!

The snow was perfect for throwing snowballs, or building snowmen too.

Happy Snow-Day everybody!

Snowstorm Round Two

The weather warmed up just a bit yesterday, so we could get out and stock up the house again. We needed to get out too, the kids had a bad case of cabin fever.

Also there is another large snowstorm on the way. It looks like we will be getting a lot of snow tonight, and tomorrow too. I don’t know if the boys will be back to school very much this week.

Today I’m going to enjoy the quiet while I’ve got it. I’ll be cleaning, and making sure that we are ready for the next round of storms. What a Winter.

Thinking Of Spring

Well this is day three of being iced in, and the kids are getting a bit restless. I am too. I’m keeping up with little chores, and my crochet projects, but my mind wanders to painting projects that I want to finish around the house.

I’ve also been making a list of Spring Cleaning projects that I want to get started on. Most of my large de-cluttering projects are already done, I just need to do a little maintenance.

A few that  come to mind are:

  • Clean out the upstairs hallway closet
  • Clean out and reorganize the utility room storage
  • Clean out Dylan’s dresser
  • Clean out Agnes’ closet
  • Clean out Thade’s closet
  • See what last year’s clothes still fit the kiddos, and get some new Spring/Summer clothes for all of them
  • De-clutter toy bins (kids rooms and living room)
  • Clean and organize my closet

I’m sure that I’ll add more to my spring cleaning list. I would like to get started on a few of these this weekend, but the little ones just aren’t cooperating.

Being stuck in the house has also made me realize that I need to get ready for Spring Break now. I need some ideas of a day trip (or two) to take the kids on, and some projects to keep the little ones busy around the house. I need to stock the house a bit better for Thade, he is growing like crazy, and he is hungry all the time. I would love to get the backyard cleaned up, and ready for Spring. It would be nice to get a planting project in over the long break. We’ll see though, Miss Mia is a bit of a digger, she isn’t too fond of the plants in the yard.

I love thinking of Spring though, it is such a lovely time of year. I’m so ready for warmer weather, pretty flowers, and my van no longer completely buried in ice.
