Bestest Friday

A few weeks ago, James had a day off work, so I booked an appointment at the day spa. I needed a bit of time out of the house, and a new hair-cut too.

The Courtland Day Spa is one of my very favorite places in town.

Brooke cut my hair into cute layers and bangs. I love it.

I called James to see if Agnes was being good, and if I could swing by the Treasure Hunt on the way home. He told me to have fun, and go shopping. I love the Treasure Hunt. It is a local antique store and flea market. There is always something new in the store, and it is just a few blocks from the Courtland Day Spa.

I walked around the shop, and spotted some really cute items. This sign might need to find a home in my laundry room.

I came home with a box full of goodies…

I found two more pictures to live under the stairs.

I also found a few more pieces of vintage Pyrex. This blue one looks awesome in my kitchen collection.

I couldn’t resist this little cookie jar.

I also picked up two more bowls.

It was a fantastic Friday!

This Week

I’m still catching up from the three day weekend. There is a ton of laundry to launder, the dishes are everywhere, and there is some painting to do too…

I’m hoping that I can keep the little gal busy enough so I can finish painting the foyer.

Craftiness

Maybe it is the coolness in the air, and the promise of cold Winter ahead, but the crafty bug has bit me. All I want to do is stay home, watch Doctor Who, and attempt to crochet on the couch. I might need a hot cup of tea to go with that wish too.

I made a little quilted decoration that I ended up hanging on the front door. It looks cute for Halloween.I might make a little one for Christmas too. I have a stash of Christmas fabric to use up.

I’ve been quilting on the weekends.

Agnes’ quilt is put together, and needs to be finished.

James’ quilt is coming along too.

I spotted a crochet kit on sale, and I thought about giving it a try. Crochet is a craft that I have wanted to learn, and the packaging  said crochet it today, wear it tomorrow…

It took me about four days before I started to get the hang of it. My scarf was a little wonky, but it was fun to create.

Agnes swiped it, it looks pretty cute on her. I hope to make another project soon.

September’s Favorite Photos

September was a busy month. We were back to school in full-swing, and all three kids were getting used to the morning routine. I was keeping busy in the kitchen, and working on a few projects too. It was a fun month, but it was a blur. Here are some of my favorite photos from September.

Thade earned his Blue belt in Tae Kwon Do. I’m super proud of my big kid.

Dylan has been all smiles. He absolutely loves kindergarten. He wants to go seven days a week.

Agnes turns three in October. She is talking non-stop, and my goodness, she is one busy toddler.

All three, and cheerful.

We’ve spotted a few sure-signs of Fall.

We went to one of our favorite fall festivities, the Pioneer Harvest Fiesta parade.

We enjoyed some tasty treats too.

We had some lovely late-season blooms.

I like these blossoms too.

Miss Mia keeps growing, she has become quite the barker too.

The big kitty will be 13 in November…

We’ll see what October brings our way.

Some of This… Some of That

Well October hasn’t been the best month over here… We’ve been sick, the kids have been sick, and the house hasn’t been on it’s best behavior.

It all started with an early October cold snap. We were getting ready to turn on the heater for the first time this year, and it kicked on, but it didn’t work. No hot air… We called a few places, got a crazy estimate, and then decided to get space heaters, and wait out the cold.

The space heaters worked well, but the kiddos were still not too happy without the heater. We finally got in touch with the awesome repair-man who worked on our heater a few years ago.

We were all happy to have the heater fixed, and he didn’t charge us an arm and a leg. Thank goodness for a very kind repair-man.I baked him some chocolate chip cookies to say thanks.

On to the next troublesome issue…

The downstairs plumbing is on the fritz. The washer was backing up into the shower, and the sink too. We got out the auger and the snake. I went out for drain cleaner, we were hoping it was just a clog.

We called the plumber, and he brought out the giant auger.

He found roots in the line.

It looks like we have some big repairs in our future. Ugh, what a month.
