Day Camp Rain Out

Well Day Camp was a wash out today, thanks to a Flood Warning, and Thade was so sad. I thought it would be fun to have day camp at home. I picked out a recipe for Peanut Butter Pie, and I wrote it on the back of a paper plate so Thade could tell me how many of each ingredient needed to go into the pie. On the other side of the plate I made a pie outline, and got out the crayons for him to decorate his own pie. He happily colored a Strawberry and Peanut Butter Pie, while I assembled dessert for later.

Once the Pie was ready to go in the freezer I got out a bag of chocolate chips. I thought the pie needed a little something extra. Thade helped sprinkle on the chocolate chips, but not all of them made it in the pie, a few made it in to Thade’s tummy ; ) Now he is all smiles, and he even said that “Mommy at-home Day Camp was pretty fun.”

Final Day at the Fair

Yesterday was the last day of the Summertime Festival, and I was so excited to take the boys and tour the one room Schoolhouse.

The one room Schoolhouse is located on a walking track that we visit often, but this is the first time that we got to go inside for a tour.

The Schoolhouse was built in the 1800s and has been fully restored. The woodwork indoors is absolutely beautiful, and there is even a wood burning stove that was made at a local foundry. I’m hoping to make another trip to the Schoolhouse at Christmas. Every year they decorate the entire building in 1800s style Christmas decorations.
