Gardening at Nico’s

When I say that I am a gardening novice, I really, truly am. This Summer I’ve decided to start small, and hopefully grow into a gardener, even if I don’t happen to have a green thumb. I set my sites on 4 hanging baskets, a small Hosta garden, and a teeny tiny Veggie/Melon garden.

Only one and maybe half of a hanging basket are thriving. The other two have gone on to potted plant Heaven… I’m going to replant them with Inpatients, because it seems to be the only flower that I can grow (which is kinda funny). The Hosta are doing well, and the leftover Pansy that I over-purchased for the hanging baskets are doing great too. The veggie garden is another story…

I haven’t planted it yet… I’m still pulling weeds. Everyday Thade asks when can we plant our veggies, and I tell him just as soon as Mommy has gotten rid of all of the weeds. It is a slow going process and my thumbs are killing me 😉 I hope I’m not too late in the season, I swear we had frost last month 🙂

How are your Summer Gardening Projects going?

Ice Cream at Your Door

Yesterday Dylan was finally down for his afternoon nap, and I was making the mad dash to get all of my afternoon chores accomplished. Thade was in the living room and he said that he could hear pretty music, I quickly realized that the pretty music was the Ice Cream Truck 🙂 Thade and I ran to the front door and the Ice Cream Truck was parked right behind my car, so I picked him up and we headed outside.

Thade was thrilled with the unexpected treat 🙂 I had to pick up a Bomb Pop for James and me too. I took a little break from the chores, and enjoyed the ice cream.

Do you  have a favorite Ice Cream Truck Treat?

T-Ball Take Two

Last night was Thade’s 2nd T-Ball game, and it was team picture night too. It was a fun game, but Thade and I were sneezing our heads off before the night was over (darn Cottonwoods). Thade did a great job up at bat. He is getting the hang of throwing the ball back to the coach too.  It was a fun evening, but next time I’m going to make sure to take my allergy medicine earlier in the day 😉

Finally, A New Movie That I Want To See

So are you going to go and see the Sex and the City movie this Friday? I kinda want to go and see it, but I’ll have to drive an hour and a half to catch it. I was a really big fan of the series, and the movie looks so good. I would love to see all of the beautiful costumes and those fabulous shoes!

So if you are a fan of the series which character do you resemble the most? How I wish I was more like Carrie, but just ask my hubby, I’m totally Charlotte 🙂

Keep the Doors Locked

My goodness this has been one strange and scary afternoon. I was sitting in the living room hanging out with the boys and I could hear someone screaming outside. School is out for the Summer and I thought it might be one of the kids across the street, but it wasn’t… It was a lady standing in out front yard screaming and clapping her hands as if she might be looking for a lost dog.

I could hear getting louder and louder, so I peaked out the window and I saw her put her hands to her face, and right away I knew something was very wrong. I went to check that all of the doors were locked, and then I kept the boys very quiet in the living room. I then heard a loud “whack” on the storm door, and I grabbed both boys and headed to the kitchen.

I got both boys settled in the kitchen, and I quietly walked to the front door, peeled back the curtain, and I saw her foot. She was sitting on my front porch, shaking. I went back into the kitchen and called my hubby, and then I called the Police. I called James back on my cell phone, and I waited for the Police to arrive.

The Police made it to our house quickly,  and thank goodness! They stopped the lady just as she was trying to cross the street, and they talked to her for quite awhile. I have no idea what she was up to, but I am grateful that we are all safe and sound. I’m still a little shaken up and worried, I felt a little helpless this afternoon. Such a strange day…
