Rain, Rain, and More Rain

It is day #2 of the non-stop down-pour, and I don’t think that the rain is going to let up anytime too soon. Both of the boy’s are a little on the grumpy side today, Dylan was up last night until 4:30 a.m. (me too) with teething troubles, and Thade popped up at 7:30 a.m. with a stuffy nose and cough. I think it is just allergies, but I’m really hoping that he doesn’t have another cold. He has used 2 boxes of tissues since yesterday! Time to make another run to the store.

I’ve been busy doing laundry, and baking tasty treats in the kitchen. I whipped up a batch of Homemade Peanut Butter Cookies while James was home for lunch. Some cookies had Hershey Kisses, some were without, both were delicious. I’ve also been working on some baby food alternatives to serve Dylan, we are saying good-bye to the jars this week, and so far he isn’t too pleased with the new menu.

I made him Applesauce with Oatmeal at breakfast, he tried a bite or two and quickly turned his head away. When lunchtime came around I made mini-pasta shells with peas and corn, once again he wasn’t a fan, but he did have a fun time smashing peas into his hair. I’ll be steaming up some Sweet Potatoes tomorrow, we’ll see how it goes 😉

Pics from the Trip To Nana’s

Last weekend we visited my Mom, and we had a blast. Thade enjoyed eating lunch at Cici’s Pizza, he cleared three plates. I’ve never seen him eat so much, it was pretty tasty though 🙂 I’m glad that he had extra energy for the day, we were going to be taking a little hike at a local park.

Nana wanted to visit Wildcat Glades, it is one of her favorite places. It is a beautiful park, with lots of trails, and it was free to visit too!

The Wildcat Glades Visitor center is a beautiful Eco-friendly facility, that uses Geothermal heating, promotes recycling, and also has a green roof filled with pretty plants. When we made our way indoors we found terrariums and aquariums with local fish, lizards, and turtles too.

There are many hands on activities for kids. Thade loved all of the giant animals to crawl around on.

The trails and scenery are beautiful and a few of the Dog Wood Trees were still in bloom. The weather was perfect for a nice walk.

Thade had fun throwing rocks into the creek with Nana, but Dylan thought it was a little too bright to be outdoors 😉

My favorite parts of the park were the beautiful purple wild flowers that blossomed everywhere. I also loved the giant rock in the middle of the creek, it was huge. The Spring was beautiful as well.

We will have to visit the Wildcat Glades again soon! Thade has been talking non-stop about just how much fun the trip was. We all had a great day at the park 🙂

Funny Sign

We were on our way home from picking up dinner when I spotted a funny sign. It was on a gas station’s marquee and it read “Need a Hug, Come Inside”. With gas prices as high as they are ($3.54 here) who doesn’t need a hug 😉
