Happy Summer!
Wishing everyone a safe and happy Summer season! Enjoy those BBQ’s and local festivals, and don’t forget to stay cool with plenty of ice cream.
For Father’s Day I planned a “Thanksgiving” style meal for my hubby, Turkey with all of the fixings. I usually buy a Honeysuckle White frozen bone-in turkey breast, but Wal-Mart was out of my favorite turkey. I spotted the Jennie-O Oven Ready Skinless Boneless Turkey Breast, and I thought I would give it a try.
The Jennie-O turkey was a bit pricey for just one turkey breast, but it was easy to make. No thawing, no cleaning, just pop it in the oven and go. However, it didn’t stretch as far as my favorite Honeysuckle Turkey does. We did get 3 meals out of it, but no turkey stock for those tasty Turkey Noodles.
In a pinch for a quick meal the Jennie-O did a great job, but for the money I’ll be buying the Honeysuckle White Turkey and making a big batch of turkey stock.
We made it through the busy day yesterday, and I was up late last night with Dylan. I had this great plan today to fill the freezer and catch up on all of the neglected housework, but a horrible migraine found me, and I’ve been sick all day.
The boy’s have been great, and patient with me today. My hubby even brought me home a Route 44 Diet Coke from Sonic to help out my aching noggin, he is just too sweet. I think I’m going to call it an early night, and take it easy this evening. I just hope to be back up and going tomorrow, the dishes are piling up in the kitchen.
I finally got my garden planted a little over a week ago, and I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best.
This morning I was up early and I thought I had better go out and see how the garden has been doing. We have had so much rain the last week, I thought I would go out and see a gigantic mud puddle…
But guess what?!? I have plants!!!
I’m so excited, it looks like almost everything is growing! So far the cucumber, watermelon, yellow squash, zucchini, green beans, and cantaloupe are sprouting, but no sign of those Bell Peppers just yet.
I ran inside and got Thade to see our garden. He was thrilled to see the little plants growing, and he can’t wait to water the garden later today. I’m still surprised, I really didn’t think that anything would grow. Let’s just hope that all of the plants will keep growing, and pretty soon we’ll have a garden full of tasty veggies.
Now I just need to figure out what is eating the poor Hosta…
