Fearless in 2010

I have a lot of fears, some strange and some random, but they are mine. This year I’m starting a whole new decade in my life, and I’m getting rid of my fears… Here are my big five.

  1. I’m scared of the Dentist…
  2. I’m scared of driving in the city with all 3 kiddos in the car
  3. I’m scared of flying in an airplane
  4. I’m pretty sure that zombies and aliens don’t exist, so I can’t really do anything about that one…
  5. I have a pretty big fear of driving in the snow and getting stuck.

Here is how I’m fighting my fears…

  1. I visited the Dentist, after putting off the visit for 6 years, and I lucked out and had a very patient and not scary Dentist. I know it seems silly, but this has been a fear of mine for decades. Facing this fear will make me a bit healthier, and thanks to the great Dentist, I’m ready to get the rest of my work done.
  2. I faced this fear too. I always want to visit my Brother in K.C., but I get bombarded with a lot of negative comments about me driving in the city with the kiddos, so I tackled this one head on. I stuck to my kids schedules, and made the trip twice. Easy peasy, and the kids had a blast too.
  3. This one is getting tackled later on in the year. I’ve flown many times before, but I still get scared. I don’t want to miss out on traveling the World because I am afraid of airplanes…
  4. Well, to my knowledge I haven’t had an encounter with a UFO, and my town hasn’t been over-run with Zombies, so this one shouldn’t worry me too much.
  5. Thanks to kindergarten I’ve faced this fear, and with all 3 kids in the car. Yep, I’m becoming a snow driver, and I’ve also gotten myself stuck in the snow while taking my kiddo to school. I kept my head clear, and the kiddos quiet while I got myself unstuck. Oh the joys of Winter-time.

So what about you… Do you have any fears? What are you doing to become Fearless in 2010?

Oh No, The Sickness

Late last night, Thade wasn’t feeling too good. By 10:30 p.m., the messy flu hit him, and I’m still catching up on the laundry today. So today he is home from school, and the little miss isn’t feeling too great, but Dylan is still going strong. I just hope that I don’t catch the flu, somebody has to wash all of the dirty clothes…

The Dentist Visit

Thanks to everyone for checking on me. I am home and feeling better.

I have to admit it, my hubby was right, his dentist was really nice, and not scary at all. The good news is that the dentist that I visited and his entire practice were really caring, and patient with my dental-phobia. I confessed that it had been 6 (yes 6) years since my last appointment, and thanks to the 3 hours in the chair, and 2 root canals that I received at that last appointment, it left me a little nervous to go back EVER. Anyway the dentist was charting my teeth, and asked me if I was feeling brave enough to get some work done today, and he was so nice, so I got started. No time like the present to get a new filling.

I’m still really numb, but pain free. I go back in 2 weeks for more work, and then probably a few times more in the next few months to hopefully get everything taken care of. I’ll try not to be a big baby about it next time. Hugs and smiles from this numb lady!
