I love cookies

Today I decided to work on a few new cookie recipes, and they turned out pretty good. I made about 5 dozen so we should have snacks for quite a while. I made french vanilla white chocolate chip, white chocolate cherry, and white chocolate macadamia nut. I liked the white chocolate cherry ones the best. I’m taking a dozen to our neighbor, and I took a dozen to my husband’s workplace.

I also got out of the house with my darling sister in law Jill to go paint shopping. She just bought a new house, and she is busy decorating. She is painting all this weekend, she is a super busy girl. We had a great time shopping. Her next stop is Target for decorative items for the house. I wish I could go on that trip, Target is one of my favorite stores.

Back to Baking

Ever since we welcomed baby number two I’ve been playing catch up all around the house. Today I got ambitious and decided to bake some vanilla cupcakes, Thade decided to help too. He helped stir, and line the cupcake tin. The cupcakes turned out great, and I was happy that I remembered how to use the oven.

I’m going to get the pantry stocked back up with baking supplies for cookies and cakes. My mom brought me silicone cupcake cups, and they were so fun to cook with. I can’t wait to bake again.

Nico’s cooking day

Today I have been scheduling appointments for James, making sure Maddie (cat) gets his meds, tending to Thade’s every need, and cooking like crazy. So far I’ve browned 5 pounds of ground beef for 4 future meals. I’m also making a big pot of Jambalaya this evening to freeze in to meals and lunches too. I’ve got most of my to do list done today, thank goodness, I’m beat.

The weather is so nice outside today, but it is really windy. I need to get out and make a quick run to the store, but I might just put off that chore until tomorrow.

Cookie Exchange Day

Earlier this week my neighbor invited me to a cookie exchange. It sounded like a good idea, bake 6 dozen cookies, and come home with 6 dozen different cookies, easy enough. I was baking coconut macaroons until 9:00 p.m. last night. I am so tired of cookies, and I’m pretty burned out on baking too. We go this afternoon, so I hope that James and Thade like the cookies that I come back with, but I don’t think that I can eat another cookie.

Thade and I went to the store yesterday to attempt to get his Christmas pictures taken, and grocery shopping for next week. The wait on pictures was 2 1/2 hours, and there were really grumpy people who barked in that they were next. I decided not to wait that long, and just go shopping. I’ll attempt the pictures next week. The store was crazy packed, and everyone was complaining about how busy it was. That’s the holiday shopping season for you.

I’m a mess in the kitchen

I often joke to my husband that dinner isn’t ready unless I’ve burned myself. This past week it is my left thumb that has been constantly injured. I nicely sliced it open while cutting a lemon for iced tea, that stung quite a bit. Today I was washing dishes, and accidentally broke a glass. I had no idea that the glass had broke, and I reached into the water to wash the glass, and cut the same thumb. Different location, luckily no stitches were required. Needless to say,I’m avoiding the kitchen for the rest of the evening.
