Checking Off The List

We decided to go grocery shopping yesterday afternoon, so we could sleep in this morning. I was glad to have that task done and checked off the list. The store was packed, but the kids were extra helpful, and behaved well.

Today we are on baking day #2. Yesterday I baked the wheat rolls, today it is white rolls, and probably some cookies too.

Tomorrow we will bake the cakes and cookies for Christmas. The kids are ready to help with the decorating.

It is strange… I keep having this feeling like I’m forgetting to do something. I’m not usually this prepared for Christmas. I guess I’ll have to double-check my list, and see if I can figure it out.

Just A Few Days Left

The kids have been on Christmas break for a few days, and Agnes is busy counting down the days until Christmas. She is really excited this year.

All of the gifts are wrapped and under the tree. Usually I am shopping and wrapping until the very last minute, it is nice to have it all done and ready to go.

We’ve got our list made for Christmas cookies to be baked, and I’ve changed my mind again on the Christmas lunch. I was going to make a big buffet of Mexican foods, and then I thought maybe Chicken and Noodles. After Thanksgiving, I really don’t want to spend another two weeks of washing dishes. I’m going to start cooking and baking what I can today.

The boys are still snoozing, they are really enjoying the break from school. Happy Monday to you, I’m off to the kitchen.

One Last Quiet Morning

We went to Agnes’ preschool program this morning, and headed out for a few errands. We decided to come back home, and just enjoy one last quiet morning before Christmas break is in full swing. The kids all have parties today, and Thade even has a sleepover party to go to tonight.

We picked up a few things for the house, and I got some more yarn for a cowl project. Maybe I can get it finished over the break. I guess I had better get to it, the clock is ticking and the kids will be home and screaming soon.

I’m not quite ready for Christmas break just yet…

Wrapping It Up

I snuck out yesterday, and finished up some Christmas shopping. This morning we are finishing up the rest. It is usually the night before Christmas, and I’m just finishing up. It is pretty nice to have it all shopped for, and only the wrapping left to do.

I spent two hours wrapping the kids gifts last night, and took the kids out to look at Christmas lights. We were trying to beat the weather, and the sleet started in just as we were heading home.

We woke up to some pretty snow, and school was still in session for the day. The boys were really hoping for an early day off. It took a little bit of extra time to get everyone to school today. The roads were a little slick in places. Hopefully the roads will clear off before this afternoon.

James is off on vacation, and I’m catching up around the house. Agnes is already begging to go outside and play. Time to get to it.

This Week

O.k. this week seriously has to go better than last week. On a side note while I was typing my opening sentence, I typed “batter” instead of “better”, I guess cake is on my mind.

I woke up extra early this morning, and started in on the laundry. So far the headache has passed, and Agnes is all better too. I threw some black beans in the crock pot for tonight’s dinner, and made a batch of no-bake cookies for the kid’s after-school snacks. I washed a few dishes, and crocheted a bit while the kids were at school.

The shopping list is ready to go for tomorrow, and the dishes are almost all done too. I’m down to just two more loads of laundry to catch up on, and I’ve got the fridge cleaned out too.

So far this week is going much better than the last one. Happy Monday to you!
