Hello November

As sad as I am to see October’s end (it’s my very favorite month and my favorite holiday), I am really happy to see November arrive. The last two weeks in October are the busiest time of the year in our house, and I’m really ready for everything to slow down a bit.

Jinx and I took the morning off, and caught up on Stranger Things 2 on netflix. I cooked ahead a few meals for the freezer in the afternoon, and attempted to attack the pile of dirty dishes in the kitchen. It was nice to take some time to myself, and snuggle with the kitty.

Maybe tomorrow we’ll be a bit more productive.

Task Master

This week has been filled with housework. Catching up laundry, cleaning up the kitchen, including that giant pile of neglected dirty dishes, and cleaning the boy’s room a little bit everyday.

And coffee, lots and lots of coffee…

Last week I had terrible migraines, and I think I slept away four solid days. It is funny just how much doesn’t get done around the house when the homemaker is ill. I’m feeling much better this week, and motivated to get this house back in order.

Jinx isn’t helping with any of the tasks though, she just wants snuggles.

October Goals

Let’s see if this keeps me accountable. Every month I journal out a list of goals for the month ahead. Sometimes I do pretty good, and sometimes I don’t.

October is my very favorite month of the year. After a solid week of migraines, I’m full of hope for a better month. So while I’m up and motivated here’s what I hope to accomplish this upcoming month.

  • Stick to my menu plan
  • Blog post as much as I can
  • Use the pantry more, and grocery shop less
  • Decorate for Halloween
  • Deep clean at least three rooms
  • Tend to the mending pile

This month is also crazy busy. I’ve been updating my calendar, and it seems like we have something going on every single day of the week. School is in full swing, and this month we have a few days off, parent-teacher conferences, and Agnes has vocal practice every Thursday. We also celebrate Agnes’ and James’ birthday’s, and our anniversary too.

It is going to be one crazy month.

Days Off

My husband finally had a few days off work, so I decided to take a few days off too. We didn’t make any plans, heck, we didn’t even leave the house. Instead we worked on the bare minimum and bummed about while the kids were in school.

It was awesome…

I napped, snuggled with Jinx, crocheted, and watched lots of netflix. I even tried out a few new vegan recipes.

I am a little behind on my blog posts, dishes, and laundry, but the break was nice.

The weekend has arrived, so it’s back to the noise and endless cooking. Time to get back to it, I suppose.

Getting ready

warning: this photo contains no makeup

My husband: What are you doing?

Me: Putting on makeup…

My husband: Why?

Me: So I don’t look like a couch-loving zombie house-troll when I go out in public.

My husband: You look weird with makeup on…

Me: ???? Weird how? Like I’m wearing someone else’s face?

My husband: Not exactly, I just like you best without makeup, you know all natural.

Me: Really?!? That’s really sweet.

My husband: You don’t own any lipstick do you???

Me: Nope, I am one weird girl…
