Thade’s Stash-Busting Blanket
As soon as I finished Agnes’ knitted and crocheted patchwork blanket, Thade put in a request for a blanket too. I’ve been wanting to make a Mexican blanket for a very long time. I love all of the bright colors, and the hues transitioning from warm to cool. I had an idea in mind, so I gathered up the yarn.
And I mean a lot of yarn!
I grabbed a J hook, and chained on I think 300 or maybe 350 stitches. Then I half-double crocheted two rows of each color. There are going to be a lot of ends to weave in at the end of this project.
When I got to the middle color (navy), I repeated the previous rows in mirror image.
I finally made it to the last row! Then it took me about two hours to weave in all of the ends.
And done…
This scrap-busting blanket is twin-sized, and I love the colors!
Thade said it was o.k. And, of course Dylan and Agnes have already put in requests for a similar blanket. Dylan wants his in shades of green, and Agnes wants pinks and purples.
This was a pretty quick project. I think I had it finished in about two months. Now I’ve got to get to working on those next two blankets.

Happy Earth Day
We’ve got a little green indoors and outdoors too.
We sprouted an avocado seed, and we have a nice little tree growing. The kids have enjoyed watching it grow. I hope one day we’ll have some homegrown avocados.

Last year we took a different route home, and we ran into a kind gardener. She was splitting out her Iris bed, and giving away the plants for free. We took home several of them , and planted them in both yards. This week they bloomed, and they are beautiful.
I’ve got a tiny tomato growing too! I hope to get some more veggies growing soon.
For Earth Day, I wanted to take the kids to our favorite local nursery for some plants. Sadly, the weather has truned rainy and awfully chilly.
Looks like we are making an Earth Day trip to the library instead.
Lazy Wednesday
Wednesday has arrived, and that calls for a little bit of laziness.
Monday, I usually grocery shop and run errands. On Tuesday, I catch up around the house. Wednesday is minimal chore/quiet morning day! Thursday calls for clearing out at least one big bag of clutter. Friday, I’m back to the grocery store and spending the day stocking the fridge with homemade snacks. During the weekend I focus all of my time and energy on my family, and I cook like I own a Diner.
I really look forward to Wednesday.
Once I get the kids to school, I grab a cup of coffee, and a knitting or crochet project. I browse my netflix queue and relax until it is time to make lunch.
What about you? Do you have a lazy day too?
