Bread Baking Days

This week I’m trying not to grocery shop until Friday. Wouldn’t you know it, I ran out of bread… I’ve always loved baking bread, but I haven’t done it in a long time. The weather was perfect for baking yesterday, so I spent the day in the kitchen.

I had enough bananas on hand to make a batch of muffins. The family had also requested another Cinnamon cake. I decided to make a few loaves of White Bread, and then I decided to try my hand at baking French Bread.

The French bread was going to take the longest, so I started it first. I also started my White Bread dough, so it had plenty of time to rest.

I baked the muffins, and the cake. The oven was preheated for the breads, and there was plenty of warm spots to rise bread dough.

The mini muffins are for the boy’s snacks for school. I also had enough left to make big muffins for breakfast.

The White Bread turned out just right. That will make plenty of lunches for the boys. The homemade bread is also so tasty too. I really need to make this once a week.

Lastly was the French Bread. I was making Spaghetti for dinner, and I thought it would be a perfect side. It took quite awhile to make the bread, but the savings were well worth it.

It was a big hit too. Thade absolutely loved it, and so did my hubby.

I will be making this again! The French Bread was delicious.

The kitchen was a mess, but it was nice spending a day baking for my family. I really need to make this a habit. It would help out a bit with the savings, and the house smelled amazing.

Sneak Peek Of April’s Tasty Treats

Hello from my kitchen. I’m spending the day baking breads, cakes, and muffins too. The weather is cool this morning, and the house could use a bit of warming up.

I’ve got a few photos to share of the tasty treats that I’ve been baking in April.

Giant Cinnamon Rolls on a crazy humid day!

Breakfast for Dinner. It has quickly become a weeknight go-to meal.

I’m going to sneak in a few chores while the bread dough is rising. Today I’m making two loaves of White Bread, and I’m trying my hand at making a few loaves of French Bread too. I hope it turns out.

Hello Monday

Hello Monday, and hello Winter once again. The snow is falling, and I’m worried about my baby plants…We worked in the yard a bit last Thursday, and I planted some Peas, Okra, and Green Beans. Wouldn’t you know it, that it would be 80F on Saturday, and freezing today. I wish KS weather would make up it’s mind.

So the Miss and I are staying in. We’re washing dishes and laundry, and watching a little My Little Pony Friendship is Magic too. I hope to sneak in a little crochet time this afternoon.

Hope Monday is treating you nicely.

This Week

The Miss and I have been doing odd jobs and chores around the house. I made some homemade cleaner for deep cleaning the bathrooms. I finally cleaned out the living-room toy bins. I also cleaned out my closet, Thade’s closet, and Dylan’s closet too.  We had a big basket full to be donated. It is crazy to see just how fast the kids are growing. They are also growing out of everything!

We had pretty Red Tulips bloom. They haven’t bloomed in years. Agnes was thrilled. She really loves her flowers.

Dylan lost another tooth! Thade had a dentist appointment too.

Miss Mia and Miss Agnes have become the best of buddies. Agnes loves to chase Mia all over the house and backyard too. Mia likes to hide under the side-porch when she is too tired.

Speaking of Miss Mia, she loves to tag along for errands, and to pick-up the boys from school. She really loves visiting a few local spots that hand out dog treats.

I’m still crocheting this blanket for Agnes.

Sometimes my project gets invaded by little Lalaloopsy dolls,

or my giant, lazy, napping cat…

I don’t know if I’ll ever get this blanket finished…

Today I’m getting ready for the weekend. I’ll be baking some cookies, and I’ve already got dinner in the crock pot. There is laundry to put away, laundry to wash, and of course an endless supply of dirty dishes. Better get to it.

Finally Finished: Solid Grannysquare Throw

I finally finished the granny-square throw. I took some time on Monday afternoon to finish the edging, and I love the finished project.

Way back in January we made a trip to Joplin. I love shopping for yarn there. I stocked up at JoAnn’s Fabrics, and Hobby Lobby too.

I came home with lots of pretty colors.

For awhile I didn’t know what to make… Agnes had picked through the yarn, and found several colors that she wanted made into a throw. That left me with a lot of yarn, but not quite enough to make a big project.

I decided on making solid color, seven round granny-squares.

I also settled on making one hundred granny-squares.

I kept crocheting until I made one hundred. I then started hand-stitching the squares together.

I got about half-way through the project, and that’s when the big kitty became obsessed with it.

I sewed and stitched the second half while he napped on the project.

The one hundred granny-squares were all together, but I thought it needed a little something more.

So I double-crocheted an edge in grey.

This throw was fairly quick to make, and I love the colors!

Now, to finish those other two projects…
