Grannysquare Housewarming Gift

This was my biggest crochet project in 2013. I started this gift way back in sunny May, and I finished it just in time for Christmas.

This big blanket started off with just four little squares.

I crocheted at least ten a day.

I kept little bins of granny-squares all over the place. I even kept some in the car for me to edge while waiting at school pick-up.

I started crocheting the granny-squares together.

I made rows of twenty granny-squares. The blanket was starting to come together.

I marked the last few rows, and got ready to finish this project.

I had two sides to crochet together, and little bits of yarn to clip.

I finished the blanket just before Christmas.

Six months of crochet work, and four hundred granny-squares.

I loved how this blanket turned out.

Maybe I’ll make one for our house too. In another six months, or so…

December Wrap-Up

Wow, this month has flown by. There has been school programs, school parties, days off school, baking to do, and family to celebrate Christmas with. I’m sure there was some other stuff going on this month too.

It was a fantastic fun-filled month!

The After Christmas Clean-Up

The week really got away from me. After all of that holiday cooking and entertaining, all I wanted to do was slack off on Thursday and Friday. The house is a mess though, and something has to be done about it.

James is at work a bit today, and the kiddos and I are at home. I think I’ll start tackling some of this clutter, and maybe get to that neglected laundry pile too.

On the agenda for the weekend:

  • Put away eight loads of laundry
  • Wash another eight loads of laundry
  • Clean the litter-box
  • Tidy up downstairs messes
  • Start taking down Christmas decorations
  • Make a storage plan! I need a better way to organize Agnes’ room, the boy’s room, and all of the seasonal clutter that hangs out in the scary closet.
  • Empty all of the trash cans, upstairs and downstairs
  • Finish cleaning up all of the dishes from Christmas. I’m about 1/2 way done with this chore.
  • Clean my desk. There are piles of unsorted school-work, unopened mail, and lots of things that just end up on my desk making a cluttered mess.

I think that sounds like a pretty good start. Now I’m off for another cup of coffee, and to get started on this list.

Just A Few More Days

The kids are out of school, and the clock is ticking down to Christmas. There is still a lot to be done. This week is going to go by in a hurry.

Today we need to get to the store, and grab all of the Christmas cooking supplies. This year, I’ve decided to serve appetizers around lunch-time, and there will be plenty of desserts too.

Tomorrow I’ll be cooking ahead what I can, and I’ll be giving the house a good clean too.

I’m looking forward to Wednesday though. Christmas morning will arrive extra early, and we’ll have family heading our way too. The kids are already so excited. I hope to get to spend time relaxing with family, and catching up with everyone too.
