Away For A Day

We don’t live too far from Kansas City, but we don’t get up there nearly enough. My brother invited us up for the day, and I couldn’t say no. He had tickets for all of us to go to the Packers and Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium, and well the Packers are James’ favorite team, so we really had to go.

We packed our bags for an overnight stay, and we were on the way.

We were greeted by this little cutie when we got to my brother’s house.

We hung out at Rob’s for just a bit, and then we headed off to the stadium.

I hadn’t been to a Chiefs game in years, and this was James’ very first game.

We were all excited, and Rob had crazy-awesome seats.

We were headed to the ground level, visitors side, right by the end-zone!

Seriously! This was crazy, I have never been this close to the field.

The game was fantastic!

Arrowhead stadium is so loud. It is truly Chiefs Kingdom there.

Our time together at the game went by too fast…

We headed back to Rob’s. He was so kind to let us stay at his house for the night.

We were going to spend most of the day in the city, and head back to the Fort by dinner-time.

We visited lots of tasty Kansas City places. We had the best donuts ever at Lamar’s, and we had lunch at Rob’s favorite place too.

We also visited the Argosy casino, I had never been there before.

It was such an amazing trip, and so great to get away for a bit too. Thanks again to my brother Rob, for making it all happen. I can’t wait to visit again soon.

August’s Favorite Photos

I didn’t seem to get too many pictures taken in August… It was a busy month, and the boys started back to school too. Maybe I’ll do a bit better in September.

I can’t believe that my big kid is in the Fourth Grade this year. He is growing up way too fast.

Dylan was all smiles on the first day of the First Grade.

He was anxious to get back to school.

Agnes has been helping me water the plants in the front yard. She loves to help.

The poor little gal was so sad, when we had to say good-bye to our tree.

The first day of school was a bittersweet one. Agnes was missing her brothers before lunch-time.

My hubby and I got a day in K.C., and I got to spend time with my boys!

I spent the all-too-hot Summer afternoons crafting in the foyer.

We had an awesome time in Kansas City!

Rob took us to a Chiefs & Packers game at Arrowhead Stadium. We had fantastic seats, and we had the best time too.

Thanks again Rob!

It was good to get away for a bit, but it was nice to come back home too.

Home is where my messes and pets are…

This pup was in need of a bath.

I did get to see this little cutie at my brother’s house. He is probably the sweetest kitty ever!

I missed my kitty . Even though he won’t let me work on my crochet project.

kitty-nap 🙂

August’s Tasty Treats

August was one of those months that flew by way too fast. I didn’t spend too much time cooking in the kitchen, and then by the end of the month my oven wonked out… I do have a few photos to share. Some of the goodies I made, and a few I didn’t.

Lately I have been on a Fried Pickle kick. I love them, and they are easy to make too. I pared these fried pickles with BBQ Chicken Sliders. The homemade butter rolls make fantastic slider buns.

My hubby’s co-worker called up and made me an offer. She said I’ll provide the fresh peaches, if you do the baking. It sounded like a great deal to me. I made one batch of Peach Duff to split between us.

She also wanted a Peach Pie. I love making peach pies, they are one of my very favorites.

My mid-afternoon pick me up has been homemade Iced Coffee. I save my coffee from the morning, add a little milk, ice, sugar, and flavored coffee creamer, and it is delicious. It is nice and cool during the hot Summer afternoons.

I had flour tortillas hanging out in the fridge, so I made up a big batch of Sopapillas for the kiddos. I called them Cinnamon Sugar Nachos, and served them with Apple Slices, and Chocolate Sauce.

My oldest kiddo loves homemade Breadsticks. I think he could eat them for every meal.

My favorite late night treat is Tea, Earl Grey, Hot… With sugar please. I’m hooked!

We have new neighbors that have recently moved in next door. They are fantastic, and so kind too. I made them a big batch of Giant Chocolate Chip Cookies to say welcome to the neighborhood.

The next day I was baking a Pumpkin Pie, and my oven started beeping, buzzing, and flashing error codes. It was toast, and the pie didn’t turn out… Ugh, I didn’t fret though, I re-worked my menu, and dug out some of my favorite no-bake recipes to make.

My little gal could eat broccoli with every meal, and so could I. She loved the homemade Macaroni and Cheese with Broccoli for lunch. I made a big batch and had lunch for a few days.

One of my favorite no bake treats to make are S’mores Bars. Golden Grahams, Mini Chocolate Chips, Marshmallows, a bit of Butter, and more Marshmallows, and yum. Dylan loved them, he even requested them for his lunch-box dessert.

When we visited my brother in Kansas City, he introduced us to some of his favorite places. Not too far from his house was Lamar’s Donuts. Oh my goodness, these donuts were amazing! I need at least a dozen right now! Time to make another road trip to the North.

I made a batch of Scotcheroos too. They are my favorite no-bake treat.

I hope to get a new oven soon, but the little break has been nice. My hubby sure is missing Chocolate Bundt Cake though. We’ll see what tasty treats September brings our way.

Catching Up

I have fallen behind again… I’m taking today to catch up on dishes and laundry. This morning we also went to two stores to grocery shop, and made a batch of laundry detergent for the month. It has been a busy morning, but it has been a productive one.

Hope you are having a fantastic Tuesday!

September’s Monthly Menu

Hello September! I am so ready for cool weather, and Autumn to arrive. This menu is going to be a little different though, I’m still shopping for an oven… I’ll be using the bread-maker, the crock pot more, and sticking to just the stove-top for a bit. The kids (and my hubby) are missing all of the home-baked goodies, so I hope to have a new oven in the kitchen soon. Anyway here we go, it’s September’s monthly dinner menu.
