January’s Favorite Photos

I didn’t get too many pictures during January. I think we were all under the weather the entire month. January was fun though, we celebrated Thade’s 9th birthday with family and friends. Here are a few of my favorites from January.

I can’t believe that our big kid is nine. The time is flying by way too fast.

Dylan is already planning his birthday party. It is well over a month away, but he is really excited.

The tiny miss and I are ready for Spring. We need to plan a day trip to visit the local nursery and look at the pretty plants.

I finished my first crocheted afghan in January. I also started another one.

We picked a warm Winter day and took a much needed road trip. It was great to get out of the house for a bit.

I neglected to get a photo of the big kitty, but here is one of the pup after her bath. She is growing too, and she isn’t such a little pup anymore.

Quiet Days

With Agnes still under the weather, and the boys back to school, the house is quiet. A little too quiet.

I hope the little gal is back to better soon. This has been one mean cold.

Home Sick

Well it is Agnes’ turn with the evil cold/flu… The boys are back at school, and both are feeling much better. Agnes is currently curled up on the couch miserable, but much better than she was yesterday. It has been a long week already.

January’s Tasty Treats

I really can’t believe that it is February already. January flew by way too quickly. I took advantage of the cold weather, and I kept cooking and baking in the kitchen. I need to restock the pantry too. I went through 25 pounds of flour from late December to the end of January.

Banana Muffins are one of my favorite ways to use up bananas that have been hanging around the kitchen for too long. They make a great breakfast, or a quick snack too.

I love my new waffle maker. The family is hooked on Belgian Waffles.

I made a few Cherry Pies too.

I made a vanilla cake and icing from scratch. I used my favorite icing that usually tops red velvet cake.

This one is a Friday night favorite.

I’ve been on a cookie-kick lately. I made some Vanilla Shortbread ones to enjoy with a warm cup of tea.

The first chocolate cake was eaten way too quickly, so I made another one.

We had Thade’s birthday party at home, and I made some treats for the occasion. The Chocolate Whoopie Pies were a big hit the with kids. I had a few left for snacks too.

I made Blue Vanilla Cupcakes for the party too. They were tasty, and the kids loved the them.

I dipped a big batch of Blue Cake Pops for Thade to take to school on his birthday, but I forgot to get a picture. I also made Thade a Chocolate Bundt Cake for his birthday, but I forgot to get a picture of it too. Oh goodness. what a month.

2012’s Clutter Count

2012 was the year of de-cluttering. I kept track every month of just how much clutter I was getting out of the house. I’m pretty happy with the results too.

  • January 507
  • February 481
  • March 55
  • April 343
  • May 300
  • June 178
  • July 266
  • August 156
  • September 139
  • October 59
  • November 391
  • December 160

If I did the math right, 3035 pieces of clutter were cleaned out of our house in 2012. The house is looking so much better too. This year I think I’ll make 2013 the year of redecorating our little home, now that the surfaces are cleaner.
