At The Fort

“Mom, I’m bored…” Yep, that is what Thade said to me yesterday, so I suggested we go to the Fort, he replied “it’s boring!”  Boring or not the weather was awesome, so I took the kiddos to the Fort for the afternoon.

I think that the Fort Scott National Site is probably the biggest attraction in town, and this year they have dropped the entrance fee to view the site.

You can easily spend an afternoon there, and it is a freebie too.

The boys could run around, and Agnes was happy chilling out in her stroller.

For the first day of Summer, the weather was unbelievably beautiful. Not too hot, and just enough wind to keep you cool.

Since Thade thought it was so boring, I told him that he could be the tour guide. He liked that idea, and proceeded to give us a tour of the Fort complete with a British accent for an hour. It was adorable.

We decided to skip the museum this time, and walk the Prairie Trail instead. There were lots of beautiful wildflowers, bees, and butterflies to spot too.

The boys enjoyed the Prairie Trail too.

We made our way through the trail and back to the main site. The kiddos were getting a little tired, so I thought it was time to head back home for the day.

The kiddos ended up having a fun time too. I just might convince them to take another trip to the Fort on the next cool Summer day.

Couponing Adventures 6/18

Last week I had migraines for 5 solid days, so I didn’t leave the house too much. When I finally felt better the kiddos and I shopped 4 stores on Saturday and restocked the house. We came home with some pretty good deals too, here are my favorites.

Since it was Saturday, I had a shopping list all planned out for Walgreens, but the fact that it was Saturday meant that most of the deals were long gone… We got to the store and Thade found an awesome Father’s Day gift so I redid my list and coupons in a hurry. The cashier that was there was super cool too, and let me do two transactions.

012

For transaction #1 I used $6.00 in coupons, and earned $7.00 in register rewards. I turned right around and applied the register rewards to the diaper deal that was going on.

Onto transaction #2…The diapers were on sale for $4.99 each, and after my register rewards my total with tax was just $3.81! Such an awesome deal! After I did the math, I saved 70% on this transaction.

Then we went to Woods. I had a big shopping trip planned and a lot of coupons to use too. Woods was our third stop of the day, and it was hot, and the kids were really sick of shopping. They had an extra sale going on with products marked down for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday only, and I hoped I wasn’t too late to stock up on the savings.

013

I ended up using $25.65 in coupons and saving 30% on my total bill. I stocked up on Powerade with a buy 10 get 5 free deal, and Chex Mix too. The kids, and my hubby were happy to see one of their favorite snacks stocked up.

I also had 2 freebies from the shopping trip.

One coupon earned me a free box of Duncan Hines Brownie Mix, retail for $2.15, super yummy freebie!

Thade also got a free hat from the trip to Walgreens. He was so excited.

I haven’t been out this week, but I’ve finally got all of the coupons clipped and organized from Sunday’s papers. Have you found any good deals this week?

Greens from the Garden

Today I picked a second batch of snow peas from the garden. I hope the Snow Peas keep sprouting, they are one of my favorite late night snacks.

I also picked a few Green Beans. It was a tiny batch, but I am happy to have a few, they might make their way into a veggie stir-fry.
