April’s Favorite Pics

The month of April flew by, and it seems like we are already in the middle of May. I’m growing anxious for the school year to be over, and grabbing some time with my kiddos during the lazy days of Summer. I’ve got a few favorite pictures to share from April, and my camera has already been busy this month.

I took this photo at the walking trail on a very chilly morning.

My cat, keeping me company as I fold the laundry.

This one was also taken at the walking trail, on another chilly morning.

Dylan at the walking trail lake, he loves the outdoors.

One of our little lilac bushes, a happy addition to the new garden.

Hey, it’s Thade! He was really excited to dye Easter eggs.

We have lots of new flowers in the backyard… There are red and yellow lilies,

and tiny petunias too. I just love those itty-bitty blossoms

Local Happenings: This Weekend

Spring is in full swing, and there are some fun things going on this weekend. The first weekend of the Farmer’s Market kicks off on Saturday.

0041

It is a little early for homegrown fruits and veggies, but there will be crafts, Amish baked goods, and a plant swap too.

If you are visiting the Farmer’s market, stop by the Fort, both are located right downtown.

064

The Fort is now fee free, and would be a great outing for the kiddos. I would love to see the Fort add in some picnic tables, so families could enjoy a picnic lunch at the Fort.

The Trolley will also be running, there is a fee, but it is well worth it.

094

Take a ride, enjoy the Spring sites, your kiddos will thank you.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.

Clothes Yes, Cups NO!

Agnes just turned 18 months, and she loves to go through her closet and pick out her clothes. She does a pretty good job too.

She also has to dig through her socks to find the perfect pair, and yes, she has to match the shoes too. Sometimes she’ll pick out a hat to go with the outfit too. She is becoming quite a little fashionista.

I’m excited to see her declaring her independence, but we’ve hit a snag… She refuses to drink from a sippy cup. I’ve taken her shopping twice to pick out her own favorite cups, and she seems happy with them while they are in the store. As soon as it is time for a meal, she despises them. She’ll throw them, scream at them, and even utter the phrase “mean mom”, yes mean mom says it’s time to ditch the bottle my dear.

The boys were really easy to switch to a cup. Dylan was tough to give up his sippy cup though, but Agnes just down-right refuses. So if you have any tips to share, please do, this mommy is getting frustrated.

Farmer Dylan is Happy

I know I’ve mentioned this a few times before, but I’ll say it one more time, Dylan loves to garden. I even like to call him Farmer Dylan because that kiddo loves it so stinking much. Today he is a happy camper.

0052

A friend of ours has been helping out with the North Garden. He tills, I bake him cookies. This morning he stopped by one more time to till the North lot and this afternoon Dylan and I planted all of the rest of the seeds that we had on hand.

0051

We planted Corn, Green Beans, Watermelon, Acorn Squash, Okra, and Carrots. I can’t wait to see those little baby veggie plants popping up all over the place.

April’s Tasty Treats

I tried a few new recipes, and brought back a few old favorites. There were a lot of tasty treats going on in the kitchen during the month of April. Here are some of our faves.

002

I made a Peach Crescent Roll bake, and served it for breakfast for dinner night. I made the peach filling from scratch, and it was sweet and tasty.

006

I love to bake biscuits, and luckily the family likes them too. I served these alongside fried chicken.

033

We had just a few strawberries in our garden. Then some squirrels hopped the fence, and ate them all up.

003

I tried out a recipe for Cream Cheese Sweet Rolls, and I really liked them. The family didn’t care for them too much. When will they learn that cream cheese is awesome…

007

Super sweet Corn Bread Muffins. Agnes loves these. She loves baked goods, just like her momma.

004

Cookies, cookies, cookies! I made some treats for a buddy of ours, and some went to my hubby’s workplace, and a few stayed home for the kiddos.

010

Homemade Cinnamon Rolls with Vanilla Glaze. I love to make cinnamon rolls, but it takes all day. It is worth it though, the homemade rolls are delicious.

021

When it was time for Easter, I wanted to make a pie, but I wanted to make something different. I decided to bake a Cherry flower topped rectangular shaped pie. It turned out great, and it made James fall in love with Cherry pie. Now to win over the kiddos.

024

Lastly Homemade Bread. From scratch, and kneaded by hand. I think this was the first time that I made homemade bread (without the breadmaker) since I had Agnes. It was good to get back to it, and the bread made a delicious side to Easter dinner.

It’s May already, and I’m ready to get started on some more tasty treats. Today we are headed to the store, I’ve got to make birthday cupcakes for one of my hubby’s co-worker’s. This month I hope to make some handmade candies, and bake lots of cakes too. Stay tuned for the May sweets pictures.
