Coupon Storage

I’m getting back into the coupon game, and keeping my coupons organized is part of the fun.

0021

I like to store my coupons in my pink coupon organizer, which is broken down into these categories…

  • Diapers and Pull-Ups
  • Baby Medicine and Diaper Creams
  • Baby Food, Juices, Snacks
  • Baby Lotion, Wipes, and Baby Wash
  • Pantry needs and Canned Goods
  • Cereal and Snacks
  • Cleaning and Paper Goods
  • Freezer, Meat, and Dairy
  • Beauty Supplies: Toothpaste, Body Wash, etc.
  • Baking Supplies
  • Beverages and Condiments
  • Local Coupons and Restaurant Coupons

I take it one step further though. I go through all of the categories, and paper clip like items together according to their expiration date.

About every week or so, I like to go through the coupons once more, and check for any that have expired. I also get in the habit of carrying my coupon organizer with me every where I go. That way if I run into a good deal, I take a little extra time to see if I have a coupon on hand to save a bit more on my purchase.

How do you like to store, and organize your coupons?

Green Beans and Potatoes, the Right Way

0022

Right before the 4th of July a very good friend of mine handed me a big bag full of Green Beans from her garden, and I was more than happy to accept the garden goodies. I thought that my last batch of Green beans and potatoes looked a little sad. With a little help from my friend’s garden, I had plenty of green beans to make a better looking batch to serve  for the 4th of July.

Now there is a proper batch of Green Beans and New Potatoes! Oh so tasty too!

Next year I am going to have to plant a bunch of green bean plants, and share the green bean love too.

Any Day Sundae

What do you do with 3 brownies that need to be used right away???

Make some brownie sundaes for the kiddos.

I raided the pantry to find some sprinkles, and I grabbed some Chocolate Sauce, and Vanilla Ice Cream from the freezer.

The kiddos loved them, and it made good use of the leftover brownies too.

Yep, I’m That Lady

We had a small grocery list for the week, and I decided to bring along my reusable bags to bring home the groceries. I hate to admit this, but I’m really bad about bringing along my bags, unless I’m shopping at Aldi. I’ve put Thade in charge of reminding me to bring them along when we shop any where, and Dylan is happy to help carry the bags too. I also had a handful of coupons in hand to shop with this week too.

So we go thorough the store, and I’m off to the checkout with reusable bags in hand, and checkout goes something like this.

I unload the bags first, and with a big smile, I say: I’ve brought along my own bags.

Cashier: Really giant sigh, and a very big eye roll.

I quickly loaded up the conveyor belt with all of the items, and when the groceries were almost finished making their way into their reusable bags, I had to say…

Nico: I’ve also got a few coupons…

Cashier: Really really really big sigh, and an even bigger eye roll.

Yeah I’m totally that lady, but happily I didn’t bring home another plastic bag, and I also saved about $5.00 on my grocery bill. It didn’t come without a snarky sigh and a few eye rolls though…

Coupon Bonanza: Pizza Buffet at Home

One of the boy’s favorite meals is called Appetizer Buffet. I pick out a few frozen appetizers to bake at home, and set up a big buffet on the table, pass out plates, and let everybody dig in. Usually I pick up whatever is on sale and looks good, but this time when Appetizer Buffet was on the menu I decided to go through my coupons and see if I could find some good deals.

002

I came up with enough coupons to make a tasty Pizza Buffet at home. Let’s break down the costs…

  • Red Baron French Bread Pizza (2 pk) $3.33 ( I had $.75 in coupons)
  • Red Baron French Bread Pizza (2 pk) $3.33 (I had $.75 in coupons)
  • Digiorno Flatbread Melts $2.78 ( I had $.75 in coupons)
  • New York Toast: Garlic Cheese Bread $2.98 (I had $.40 in coupons)
  • 1/4 Jar of Pasta Sauce: the jar was $1.09, so I used about $.25

The Buffet supplies came to $12.67, and I had $2.65 in coupons, so that gives me $10.02 for lunch/ or about $2.50 a person. The best news though, I used only 1/2 of the pizzas and garlic bread, so I had enough left over for a fast dinner for the kiddos. Shopping wisely with coupons gave me 2 full meals for 4 hungry people for about $10.00, I think that is a great deal! No complaints from the boy’s either, they loved the buffet, and I have a few more coupons to keep this simple meal going.
