Getting The House In Order

This week is shaping up to be a busy one that is filled with hostessing duties. This week I’m hosting our local MOPS Steering Team meeting, and I’ll also be hosting the 4th of July BBQ. I’ve got a few yummy meals planned for the events too. First thing first though, I’ve got to get the house in order and cleaned for company.

I’m taking the downstairs room by room, and so far I’ve already got the office cleaned and ready. Today I’m getting the table cloth cleaned, and working on the dining room, and a little bit of the kitchen too.

Time to get to it!

Garden Green Beans and Potatoes

We didn’t have too many Green Beans out of our garden, but I thought that with enough Potatoes and Vidalia Onions there would be enough for a tasty dish. I also get an excuse to use my tiny Crock Pot, which I totally love…

For the dish you’ll need:

  • Green Beans
  • One Vidalia Onion
  • Red or Russet Potatoes
  • Bacon
  • A cup of water, a few shakes of pepper, salt, and garlic salt.

It’s simple… Cut all of your cleaned veggies into bite sized pieces, and toss them in the Crock Pot. Add in the water, salt, pepper, and garlic salt. Fry your bacon, and then chop it into little pieces too, and toss them in the Crock Pot as well.

Give it a good stir, and set your Crock Pot on high, and wait for dinner.

After a few hours of cooking, you can move the Crock Pot setting to low, and just try and resist grabbing a bite of potatoes every time you walk by.

Just A Week Until the 4th of July

Yesterday Thade exclaimed that he doesn’t like fireworks, and that’s when I realized that the 4th of July is just around the corner. Then I looked at the calendar, and oh no, it is just 7 days until the 4th of July, and I am so not ready!?! I had better get my house in order, and get to planning a 4th of July BBQ menu for the guests.

What about you… Do you have plans for the 4th of July? Are you hosting a BBQ or bringing along a tasty dish to a 4th of July gathering?

Bean Greens

0011

Despite my complete garden neglect (weeds!!) we actually picked a few green beans this week! Dylan is my awesome helper in the garden, he loves to water the plants, and the sidewalk, and his feet, but this time he was really excited when he saw the “bean greens”. That is what he shrieked as we picked a handful of Green beans.

I’m hoping for just a few more green beans out of the garden, so I can make a mini batch of Crock Pot Green Beans and Potatoes.

The New Cat

010

Dylan is pretty sure that he is a cat… I have no idea why he thinks he is a cat, but he likes to crawl around chasing after the kitties and yell, “I’m a kitty!”

He is pretty pleased to be bugging the kitties with his new found catness, but the kitties seem a little annoyed…
