What An Easter Weekend

065

Friday we enjoyed an Easter program at Thade’s Preschool, and the kiddos were ready to celebrate! We had a few Easter plans for Saturday too… We were going to pay a visit to the Easter Bunny at Walgreens, and dye Easter eggs. Thade was thrilled to see the Easter Bunny, but Dylan wasn’t so excited about it. He did sit on the Easter Bunny’s lap for just a few seconds, and then he burst into tears, Thade was all smiles though. I’ve got to go out later and pick up the picture for Thade’s photo album.

We finally got around to getting those Easter Eggs dyed.

063

I think everyone enjoyed dying the eggs, even James. The eggs turned out great, and the kids couldn’t wait for Easter!

Early Sunday morning, 6:30 a.m. to be exact, the kids were up and ready to hunt for Easter eggs.

They tore through the house picking up brightly colored eggs, Dylan’s favorite had candy in them, he didn’t like the hard boiled ones. Thade claimed that he was the winner of the egg finding contest, but I think everyone had the same amount of Easter goodies.

We all went to second service at Church, and then we stopped for a quick lunch out. I had a lot of cooking to do before our families arrived, so as soon as we were home, I was in the kitchen.

We had a fun Easter playing the Wii with the Grandma’s, and enjoying some tasty food too. I’m still tired today though, but I have to say it was one of the best Easter’s ever.

Easter Plans

This is looking like it is going to be another busy weekend… I was thinking about taking the kiddos out of town to an Easter Egg hunt, but waking up to 34 degree weather made me change my mind. Oh well, we will be making a run to Walgreens later today to see the Easter Bunny, and see if Dylan will want to be in the Easter picture too. He isn’t a fan of the Easter Bunny or Santa just yet. Thade can’t wait to go though.

This afternoon I’ve got to remember how to hard boil eggs so we can dye two dozen eggs for Easter. This is an activity that everyone looks forward too, and I hope to get some pretty good pictures too. Even James has fun dying eggs.

I hope to get a jump start on tomorrow’s Easter Dinner, and start prepping what I can today. I’ve got cru-de-te to make, and Apricot Pie filling too. I need to check with everyone and see how many guests we are having this year too. I think I’ll also make a big batch of Homemade Cinnamon Rolls for tomorrow’s Easter breakfast too.

Tomorrow we’ll be going to the second service at Church, that way the kiddos have plenty of time to hunt for Easter Eggs around the house. I’ll make a quick lunch, and then get to making dinner before the guests arrive.

Here is the menu for tomorrow night:

  • Turkey
  • Stuffing
  • Mashed Potatoes
  • Scalloped Pineapple (Nana is bringing)
  • Green Bean Casserole
  • Sweet Tea
  • Crescent Rolls
  • Cherry Pie
  • Apricot Cream Cheese Bars
  • Cru-de-te, Cheese and Crackers for snacks

I think I’ll be in the kitchen for the next two days… I hope that everyone has a wonderful and very Happy Easter!

March’s Coupon Savings

March featured our “not going out in March challenge”, and a lot of extra groceries too. I was totaling up the receipts for the month, and somehow I must have left my coupons at home… I only had $1.81 in coupon savings for the entire month. I thought with all of those extra shopping trips, I would have had a lot more in savings. Oh well, maybe I’ll do better in April.

With the addition of $1.81, that brings my yearly savings up to $35.32, not too bad for the first three months.

March’s No Driving Days

I’m behind on my posts this month, but I’m still keeping track of all of my no driving days. This year I’m hoping to reach my goal of an entire month without driving. March brought along Spring Break and several snow days spent indoors too, and all that bad weather kept us at home. In the month of March I had seven no driving days. Adding up all of the no driving days for the year so far, gives me 17 days without driving. I’m already half-way to my goal! Let’s see how April goes.
