Coupon Savings for September

September definitely made up for my less than stellar Summer savings… My September coupon savings totalled $22.57, which brings my year to date totals up to $171.04! I also looked back on my totals, and noticed that all of my coupons were used at Walgreens. Our local Walgreens is very coupon friendly, and the savings show for it.

We’ll see how October goes.

So Long Garden

I think my garden is just about done for the season. The weather is starting to turn cooler, and the Autumn rains will be here more often than not.

I  found one teeny tiny watermelon left hiding in the garden. Thanks in part to the cool weather, I don’t think it will grow any bigger, but it might be a nice treat for a little bird, or Spencer…

Kelly’s Fabulous Brooches

Do you watch Top Design on Bravo? I try and catch it every week. I love interior design, but I really love to see what Kelly Wearstler will be wearing. Last episode, I was absolutely in love with Kelly Wearstler’s trio of Brooches that she wore towards the end of the show. I have a small collection of antique Brooches, and I thought I would take a little fashion tip from Kelly and add a few Brooches to one of my favorite dresses.

The trio of Brooches added a little sparkle to my basic black dress. Now I’m ready to hit the local shops and look for a few more Antique Brooches.

Five for September

Well last month I didn’t do so good on my “quest for driving less “. I only managed to not drive or ride in a car only 5 days out of the entire month.  Somehow I even managed to find a reason to need to drive even when I was sick with the flu. I’m a little disappointed with myself…

In October I really hope to do better, and drive less. I’m setting a goal of 10 days of no driving, now let’s see if I can get it done!

Changes in Garbage

While I’m still a little new on making sure that our recyclables make their way to the bi-monthly drop offs, I have already noticed a BIG difference. Most weeks we only put one single bin of trash out for the weekly pick-up. Sadly, it used to be 2-3. I’m very proud of the changes that our family has made, and I want to do more. I’ve been busy researching composting. It would be a great way to further cut down on our garbage, and it would help out our garden next year too.

I’m also happy to report that my hubby has started recycling at his workplace. I think that is just too cool, and a great way to help out too! I wish that more local businesses would do the same. Maybe one day we’ll have curb-side recycling pick-up, a girl can dream…
