Recycling Day

Yay for Recycling Day!

After many phone calls, and online searches we finally found the super secret locations offering bi-monthly recycling. Today we are taking our filled bins to Wal-Mart. Although we can’t recycle it all locally, we can recycle Paper, Plastic, and Aluminum, and I think that it is a great start.

James filled an entire bin in his office, and Thade has been helping with the sorting downstairs. The only downside to today is that it is pouring outside, so we’ll be out in the rainy weather for a bit. I had better go  load up my car, and get to the store.

MOPS and Scary Movies

Last night the kiddos were off to bed, and I thought that I would call it an early night. My Hubby asked if I wanted to bring in my laptop and play a few games on Pogo. I said find a movie to watch and I’m there. We searched and searched for what to watch and we were going to watch the Darjeeling Limited (I heart Wes Anderson movies) , but I didn’t know if I was going to stay up that late to finish the whole movie. Then we spotted The Invasion starring Nicole Kidman, and we thought it looked like a pretty good (scary) movie to watch.

IT WAS SO SCARY, and I was up way too late getting the crap scared out of me. If you haven’t seen it, and you like creepy-scary-alien movies check this one out. You might watch this one in the middle of the day though, I’m still creeped out by this movie.

So I had quite a time getting to sleep and I was up past midnight. Thade woke up at 2:30 a.m., so I had to get him settled back down, and then Dylan was up bright and early at 6:30 a.m. I am so tired this afternoon.

This morning was Thade’s second day at Preschool, and his best friend was back, so he was thrilled. Dylan and I went to our first MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meeting and it was so much fun. Dylan made it almost an hour in the nursery, and I had a nice time getting to chat with other Moms, and enjoy a delicious breakfast. I plan on attending as many MOPS meetings that I can, and I volunteered to bring breakfast next time. The group is great and I can’t wait to attend all of the fun activities planned for the year. In October there will be a Sister-swap (free sale) of household goods and clothing, and even a Mom’s Day Out at the Spa in Spring! It is going to be fun!

I spotted a great yard sale on the way home that we might check out, but it looks like it is going to rain (again) so we might just be in today. Oh well, maybe we’ll check it out tomorrow.

What about you… Do you have a busy weekend planned? Or are you taking it easy and relaxing?

Checking out a MOPS meeting

Tomorrow while Thade is busy at Preschool Dylan and I will be going to our first MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meeting. I hope that the meeting will be fun, and I hope that Dylan has a great time getting to meet other toddlers. Our local group meets every First and Third Friday during the School year, and they even serve a tasty breakfast for the Mommies. I think it will be a fun outing for the little guy and me too.

Have you attended a MOPS meeting? Fill me in on all of the details…

August Coupon Savings

With  disappointing July savings ($2.75) past me, I’ve managed to save a bit more in the month August. I shopped smarter and took along my coupons too, and saved $8.70. That brings my year to date total up to $148.47, and I hope to have even more savings this month.

How about you… with the recent grocery price hikes are you saving with coupons, or finding alternative ways to save those precious grocery dollars?

First Day of Preschool

It is official, my Thade is a Preschooler! He woke up bright and early today, and he was ready to go to school. I was so nervous you would have though it was my first day of school. He ate a little bit of breakfast and then it was time to go.

There was quite a crowd at Preschool today, and many Parents and Grandparents with cameras and video cameras. Thade kept saying “Mom quit taking my picture and leave already!” He was very ready to go to school. I kept it together, but I was ready to go and pick him up as soon as it was time.

Dylan was lost without Thade though. In the car he would point at Thade’s car seat and say “my brubber”. When we came home he looked everywhere for Thade, and was so sad when Thade didn’t run over to him with big hugs. Dylan was  happy when we picked Thade up from school, me too. It will take a bit of time for us to get used to the changes, but with Thade it won’t take any time at all, he loves Preschool!
