Nico’s Day Off :)

My hubby is taking off a few days next week, and I am taking off next Friday to have a little break too. Normally I stay home the day after Thanksgiving and avoid the shopping madness, but this year I’m venturing out of the house for a little pampering. I’m going to get my haircut and go to Starbucks. I’ll be all by myself, no boys, I can’t wait!

My super sweet Sister-in-Law gave me a gift certificate to get a haircut and style with her stylist, and who doesn’t love free beauty pampering.ย  I think a day away will do me good, and I’ll come home a more patient and semi-glamorous Mommy ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here Comes the Cold Weather

The cooler weather moved in yesterday. I tried to get the kids out before it got too cold, but the weather beat me to it. I bundled up the little guys for just a bit of play-time in the yard, I think we only made it about 10 minutes ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thade had a lot of fun playing in all of the leaves, he loves crunching them with his feet. Dylan was grumpy from teething, but the change of scenery helped a bit. My kitties stayed nice and warm inside, and looked out to see what we were doing in the chilly weather.

Holiday/Winter Pantry

I’ve been searching the sales ads and stocking up for Thanksgiving, when I found out that I won’t be hosting this year. My Sister-in-law has volunteered to take over the hosting duties. I guess I will have to keep my great buys for when I host Christmas.

I had been stocking up my little microwave cabinet with:

  • Stuffing Mix found for $.88 ea
  • Green Beans and Corn for $.50 ea
  • Cake Mixes for $.82 ea
  • Chocolate Icing found for $.49 ( I combined 2 coupons fot the great deal)

I don’t know if the Chocolate Cake Mix and Icing will Make it to Christmas, I think I might have to bake a Bundt Cake in the near future ๐Ÿ™‚

What treats and staple goods are you stockpiling for the holidays? How do you store your great buys?

Biscuits Anyone?

biscut-1.JPGbiscut-2.JPGbiscut-3.JPG

Tonight I made Baking Powder Biscuits from the Betty Crocker Cookbook. They turned out pretty good, for my first attempt. I made Hammer and Saw shaped biscuits for Thade, and regular round ones for James and me. I turned the saw shaped biscuits into little sandwiches for Thade, but Mr.Picky refused to try them. I thought they were pretty tasty though. I hope to have a few biscuits left for tomorrows breakfast and lunch too. Now I’m off to have one more with honey for dessert ๐Ÿ˜‰
