Another Chilly Day

The colder weather looks like it is here to stay, so I’m sticking close to home and working on decorating the house for Christmas. I’m not much of a holiday decorator, so this is a slow going project for me. I hope to have the Christmas tree up soon.

Yesterday I hung a few lights around our large leaded glass window, I and restrung a wreath with bright lights. Thade was so excited to see Christmas lights, I know he’ll really enjoy the tree too. I keep debating about keeping the decorating nice and simple, or going all out…

Dollar Tree Shopping Trip

As you well know, I’m a super big fan of the everything for a dollar shops. Whenever I go out of town I always want to stop off a Dollar Tree (we don’t have one locally), but by the time we have shopped 2-3 stores the kids are tired and ready to go home. Yesterday I finally made it to Dollar Tree, and I love love love this store.

I found so many great finds for Christmas, and decorations too! At check-out I was handed a coupon for a %10 off $10.00 sale for next Sunday, I hope I can make the sale. I filled my cart and only spent $10.73 (with tax). Here is what I came home with:

  • An 8 pack of Christmas Tumblers
  • A Floral Red& White Coffee Cup perfect for my Sister-in-law’s Red Kitchen
  • An adorable Christmas Penguin for Dylan’s Stocking
  • 16 Christmas cards with envelopes
  • 2 Totes that I’m using for my Spa-kit Christmas Gifts for the Grandmas
  • A Snowman Wreath for the Front Door (I kinda decorated)
  • 2 Felt Christmas Stockings for the kiddos
  • One pack of Glitter Cars Crayons for Thade’s stocking

I really enjoyed the store, and the selection was huge. I can’t wait to go and shop Dollar Tree again 🙂

Snow and More Snow

This morning we woke up to snow, and Thade was thrilled. He asked “is it Christmas?” Not just yet, but it will be soon. The snow is very pretty, and it is still falling, I hope we don’t get too much snow. I have to get out and to Walgreens today, we are down to our last box of tissues.

Here is the plan for today:

  • Go to Walgreens-the sooner the better
  • Finalize next weeks shopping list
  • Start the Christmas decorating
  • Make my lists of: What I have, and What I still need to buy for Christmas
  • Wash 3 loads of laundry
  • Dishes (as always)
  • Clean the bottom floor as it has become Thade’s Toy Box
  •  Bake Banana Muffins

I really wish I didn’t have to get out at all today, the weather outside isn’t even to freezing yet. I don’t think that the last box of tissues is going to last too much longer 😉

My Day Off

I had such a great day off today. I came home refreshed and slightly more glamorous with a new hair-cut 😉 I called my mom on the way to the salon (it is the same drive for both of us) to see if she wanted to meet for a coffee, and for a girl’s day too.

We ended up going to Payless shoes, where I got a cute pair of sneakers, and she found some adorable red boots with a nice high heel. We then headed over to Dollar Tree which was so cool. I found so many great Christmas presents. I found the tote-bags that I had been searching for, and new Christmas Stockings for the kiddos. I also picked up a few stocking stuffers, and a new Christmas decoration for the front door.

After all of the walking and shopping it was time for some Starbucks. I love that coffee shop, and I’m a big coffee drinker too. It was such a treat getting to sit inside, enjoy the quiet atmosphere and relax. We split two desserts and I had a Peppermint Mocha Latte, and she had the Gingerbread Latte, so good. I also picked up a Penguin Cookie for Thade, so he could have a nice treat too.  I think I’m going to have to do this more often.

I thought I should treat my hubby too, so I picked up his favorite Arby’s for dinner. When I got home Thade was at the door, and Dylan was a little nervous about my new hair-cut. I kept saying “same Mommy, just better hair.” James said that the boys were great! I see another “Nico Day Off” in the future 😉

Shopping & Nico’s Day Off

Did you wake up early and shop the Black Friday sales? I slept in as long as my little kids would let me. I thought about going shopping, as I was up at 3:00 a.m. with the little guy (teething). I thought maybe I could bundle up and head out, but then I remembered that it was barely above freezing, and I decided to catch a little more sleep.

There was one sale that I want to check out. Walgreens is having a 7 hour sale, and they have Bounty Paper Towels (select-a-size) for $.99 with store coupon, they also had some cute Beanie Baby stocking stuffers. I might have to go out before my day off.

This afternoon I’m going out and getting my hair-cut, and going to Starbucks! It is about a 30 minute drive, but well worth it. I’m looking forward to the peace and quiet, I just hope I don’t fall asleep in the Hair Salon.  I’m going to invest in some super yummy coffee for me too, Nico runs much better on coffee 😉

Are you shopping today, or starting your Christmas decorating?
