Today Thade woke up early, ready to go to school, and then he said “I remember what today is”. Today Thade and Dylan both have check-ups, and Thade has to get his kindergarten shots. He has to get 4-5 of them, but let me tell you this kiddo is a trooper and has the best attitude about his upcoming appointment. I’m a little panicked about him getting that many shots, but I know it is necessary for him to go to school.
Thade also told me that he can’t wait to give his Doctor a big hug, and he is really excited about his shots. I just love this little guy.
I’ve packed along an ouchie kit for each of the boys. My kit has a little note saying just how proud of them I am, and a little favorite snack for the car ride home too. I’ve already promised Thade an ice cream cone at home if the appointment goes well.
Dylan doesn’t have to get any shots, but he will probably act like he does… Wish me luck, this is going to be a really long day.
Yuck= does sound like a long day! Maybe you could give Thade a dose of pain med before the shots. I do that with both boys. Seems to take the edge off. Or at the very least makes me feel like I’ve doen something to help them. smile.. Well, big hugs to you today!! Good luck!
I agree with Heather. I give the boys a dose of Tyneol one hour before their appointment, if they are scheduled for shots. It really seems to help! I am so glad Thade is such a trooper.

My kids were always fine until one year a nurse gave us all flu shots that really hurt.OUCH!!! She just did not even try to be gentle. After that, my kids cried and screamed every year until this year.
