This has been an interesting week for bugs. We had a cave-cricket invade the living room ( I grabbed a tissue and set it free outside), and a really cool praying mantis on the front steps, but Thade wasn’t a fan of either one. Last night we had an unexpected visitor in the boy’s room. A little brown moth found its way in and Thade was not happy about it. I went in the room and found him screaming “MOP” and frantically pointing at the ceiling. It was just a little moth, not that big of a deal. Thade was a little worried about the moth getting too close, and possibly biting him. Thade then said “get a tissue and get it out of here.”
Try and picture me running around the room cupping my hands together to catch the all too clever moth for about 10 minutes, and Thade yelling “Get it”. I finally got the moth batted down, and it landed on my leg. I quickly scooped it up and set it free out the window and in to the night sky. Thade was thrilled, and a little worried about the moth had touched me. I got him settled down, and stories read. I went to turn on his window air conditioner, and just who did we see again, the little moth. Thade again yelled “MOP, don’t let it near me!”
This time instead of running around like a cat pouncing on a butterfly,I decided to turn on his lamp. I did my best to explain that as long as the lamp was on, the moth would be way over in the corner enjoying the light. He looked at me like I was crazy, but finally accepted the unwelcome visitor, and drifted on to sleep. The moth is still there this morning 😉
