Stars From Nico’s Kitchen

I love Stars, I make bracelets with Star shaped beads, and Thade loves Star shaped Grilled Cheese sandwiches for lunch. I thought I would get out my cookie cutters and see what else I could make Star Shaped.

I had my heart set on baking a Cherry Pie, but I didn’t want to make a traditional crust. I decided to roll out the dough, and cut it with a small Star shaped cookie cutter. I loved the way that this Pie turned out. It was so pretty and tasty too.

I needed to fill the cookie jar, and I thought some Star Shaped Sugar Cookies would do the trick.

I topped a few of the cookies with Icing and Sprinkles (Thade’s favorite), and the rest were covered in Melted Hershey Kisses (my favorite). Sugar Cookies are another cookie that I’m not a fan of making, the dough is so sticky, but the work was worth it. I had a batch of delicious cookies that would rival any Bakery cookies.

Do you have a favorite cookie cutter in your collection?

  1. Thanks Maggie! The Chocolate “Iced” ones were delicious, but Thade will tell you that the ones with sprinkles were the best 😉

  2. Thanks Marva! You are too sweet. That is one thing that I would love to do in the future, either supply a Bed & Breakfast with yummy treats, or open a Bakery. I just need to work on that waking up really early part 😉

  3. I love the star pie crust! Our family favorite cookie cutters are stars, hearts, and snowmen. We like to eat snow man cookies all year long just because they’re so much fun to decorate. I’m going to make a star pie crust for the 4th of July using your idea. Maybe I can frost the edges of the stars or use sugar sparkles in red, white, and blue. what do you think about that? Maybe you could sell pies on the side. It all looks too good and now I am craving pie.

  4. Thanks Susan! I’m still a little new at baking pies, they are a lot of fun to bake 🙂 I was hoping to bake a batch of Chocolate Crinkle Cookies, so maybe I’ll get to them this weekend.

  5. Thanks Mimi! The Snowman cookie cutter sounds so cute 🙂 We have a favorite Cat cookie cutter that I use all year too.

I think that your pie sounds perfect for the 4th of July! I really like the idea of the sugar and sprinkles too, sounds tasty! I think that a Blueberry Pie would work for the 4th of July too. Let me know how it turns out.
