On my weekly grocery list there are always two things that I have to pick up for the kitties.
Kitty Litter and Cat Food, they are kitty necessities, but I have to say that I am fed up with the rising prices on these items. I’ve started to shop around in a few different places for the best deal for my kitty supplies.
First off Kitty Litter, if you have kitties you have to have this one. I like to purchase Kitty Litter at Dollar General, they carry an Earth-friendly brand for only $1.00! One bag will usually last about a week, and you can’t beat the price
Then there is Cat Food, every week it seems that the price goes up and up, and I spend 15 minutes comparing brand to brand and bag to bag, to find the best deal . A few weeks ago my hubby spotted a great sale on 18-20 pound cat food at Tractor Supply Company. I had never shopped there before, so I thought I would check out the store. The brand that I had planned on purchasing had already sold out, but a sales associate told me to give their brand a try. I picked up a 20 pound bag for $10.49! It was a great deal, and after I did the math, I saved $15.37 by purchasing the cat food in bulk. The kitties really liked the food too.
Tractor Supply Company also carries Kitty Litter and last weekend I took my Mom to shop their sale. Their brand of Paws ‘n Claws kitty litter was on sale, so we stocked up. Their 25 lb bags were on sale for 2 for $4.00! Only three were left when we made it to the store, so we picked them up. I’m all stocked up for the Fall, or for any kitty litter emergencies.
How do you keep costs down when it comes to pet supplies?
I use coupons whenever I can, and I buy the jumbo bags.
We have dogs, so no need to buy the litter, and I know that can be expensive!
We clean out the litter box every night, seems to make the litter last super long! I am hooked on Arm N hammer cat litter, we have our litter box in the bathroom so I need a litter that will work and keep the smell out. I wait till it goes on sale at Target and combine a coupong to save money. I never thought of a tractor store either!! Have to check that out for food. I hate how expensive it is also! But we only have one cat so it does last pretty long.

Thanks Heather! How I love Target’s sales, they are so great. I’m glad that you have a brand that you and your kitty like. The Tractor Supply Company is pretty cool, and I have been rally pleased with their prices 🙂 Dylan likes to shop there too, they play Country Music (his favorite) 😉
Yeah, we went in there for a winter coat for Hubby the other week. I was surprised that I liked the women’s line of Wranger. You never know..
