Day Two

Well this morning went a little bit smoother than yesterday. The weather cooperated, and the kids were better about getting up and ready. We left five minutes earlier, and that saved about ten minutes of traffic time.

The kids all had a pretty great first day. Thade said that the sixth grade is completely boring. Dylan loved his new teacher, and he is also enjoying the new school too. Agnes said it was pretty fun, but she was tired, and still a little worried.

This morning Agnes was still a little reluctant to go, but she made it through the kindergarten door. I hope she has a great second day.

I’m still adjusting too. Yesterday, I was a bit of a nervous wreck, but today I’m a bit calmer. I’m also enjoying the quiet time, and I’m finally all caught up on laundry. Dishes will be caught up next. This week I’m just taking a few days easy, and next week I’m deep cleaning the kids rooms. They are long over-due. Time to go and make some lunch. Happy Friday everybody!

The First Day of School

Well we made it. Up early, dressed, out the door, forty minutes of drive time, and no tears. Oh yeah! Let’s hope that tomorrow goes well too.

I’m enjoying the day so far. I’ve been catching up on a little netflix, and doing lots of housework. It is strange just how quiet the house is today, but it is really nice. Time to go and make some lunch, and get to work on a crochet project.

Open House and Other Stuff

Last night was open house for all of the kiddos. Three different schools, and a little over two and a half hours to go through them all. It was exciting, overwhelming, and exhausting all at once.

School starts tomorrow.

I was doing pretty good, until Monday rolled around. I started thinking too much, which turned into worrying too much, which turned into my OCD taking over for the day. Today, I’m still pretty much the same way. I’ve already rearranged the refrigerator twice.

I know the boys will do fine. I just started to worry about Agnes. She was standing up on a chair, and looking out the window, she turned to me and said “my tummy hurts, and I’m sad”, “what happens if I get sad at school?”…

I didn’t have an answer…

Today we are ending Summer about the same way that we started it. We ran to the grocery store, and have spent the day bumming around the house. Agnes and Dylan have been outside playing most of the afternoon, and Thade has been busy on his PS4.

I hope tomorrow goes well. I’m not quite ready to get up early, and neither are the kiddos. It is going to be a long day for all of us.

Loki

Our oldest friend, and sweetest cat buddy passed away last night. Our hearts are heavy, but we were blessed with an amazing sixteen years with the big guy.

We all loved you so much big guy…

We will miss you always.

Rest in peace Loki cat.

This Week

This is our last full week of Summer vacation. We’ve timed our new school route, and we have just a few items left on the school supply shopping list. We’ve also begun the task of earlier bedtimes, and earlier wake times. Today, everyone is grumpy. Me included.

Tomorrow we visit Agnes’ class, and she is really excited. I think the boys are going to go along too. Dylan has offered Agnes a complete tour of his old school.

It is going to be strange with everyone in school, but I think it will be good too. Time to get to it, I hear my oven beeping.
