Learning To Knit
So I’m teaching myself to knit. It is a slow-going process, but it is really fun to be learning something new.
I started off by heading to the library for some books.
I also bought a few sets of Knitting Needles. I wanted to try out a few different sizes, and see which one worked out best for me. After three years with a crochet hook, knitting needles feel pretty strange and awkward.
Practice, practice, practice. Different yarn, different casting on techniques. Unraveling started project after project.
I then went to youtube to watch a few videos. The books were helpful, but I found watching others knit really clicked with me.
About a week of practice, and I’m slowly getting the hang of the knit stitch, and the long-tail cast on.
Next I need to learn how to purl and bind off. And maybe then I can finish a project.
I hope to continue learning to knit over the winter months. It is a fun new hobby to keep me busy.
Last Week To This Week
Last week flew by, and this week is going by a bit slower. I can’t complain though, I am doing my best to enjoy the quiet days while I have them.
There has been lots of cooking, cleaning, baking, and more cleaning going on.
I visited the local library to get a few books on knitting. I am hoping to finally learn how to knit this Winter.
It seems like the kids have homework every single day. Agnes loves it though.
The kids got much needed hair-cuts, and we got some ice cream to celebrate.
I finally got the hang of casting on, and I’m making some progress on the knit stitch too. It has been a very slow process, but it is fun to learn a new craft.
Just Ten Days
Thank goodness for Monday mornings. This weekend was one of those weekends, the kids were fighting, my husband was bored, and I was exhausted from just about everything.
I often look forward to Monday morning, and the quiet that follows the rush of getting everyone to where they need to be on time.
So today, we are in the car. Agnes is still mad at me, because she doesn’t want to go to school, Dylan is anxious to get to school, he never wants to be late, and Thade is busy rolling his eyes at me, when I ask him about his day. It then hits me, there are just ten days till Christmas break, that means only two peaceful Mondays remain for the rest of the year…
Oh goodness, I’m not ready.
