All The Messes

Wow, my house is a mess today. I was sick for exactly one day, and there is so much that has to be cleaned and laundered. I’ve already strayed from my monthly menu too. I was running a fever last night, and feeling like death warmed over, so hubby went out and picked up dinner. Thank goodness 🙂 I have so much to catch up on today, so here is the plan:

  • Wash at least 3 loads of laundry (I have 6 that need to be done)
  • Put away 4 loads of laundry
  • Wash dishes (every surface in the kitchen is covered in dirty dishes)
  • Empty all of the downstairs Waste Baskets (all are overflowing with tissues)
  • Make Baby Wipes
  • Take out the Trash

I’m feeling so much better today, and the boys seem to be too. I just hope that James doesn’t get our awful cold 🙂

Walgreens Run

Even though we were sick I had to get the boys out to the store. We ran to Walgreens for a few cold and flu essentials. I ran in to a few great deals while I was there. Walgreens is offering $2.00 off Nutripals Bars or Nutripals Drinks with an EasySaver catalog coupon. I also had a $2.00 off coupon for Nutripals Bars or Nutripals Drinks, I combined the two coupons, and saved $4.00 🙂 The regular price for the Nutriapals Drinks (at our store) was $5.99 using the 2 coupons I only paid $1.99!

I also picked up a Walgreens Warm Steam Vaporizer for the kid’s room. It was $12.99, and has a rebate in the EasySaver Catalog for $5.00, not a bad deal at all. Also in the EasySaver catalog there are several offers  for $10.00 off Space Heaters (various brands),  I’m sending  hubby to see which ones we should get.

Hey Mom I’m Up!

Last night was another long night, James was up rocking a screaming Dylan until midnight, and I continued well past 1:00 a.m. Finally Dylan fell asleep for just a little bit, but woke up at 3:00 a.m. to eat. He wasn’t the only one, I could hear Thade yelling “hey mom I’m up”. Once Dylan was all finished nursing, I went in to check on Thade, and I got him back to sleep too.

Thade was up and ready to go at 7:00 a.m., but mommy wasn’t. I woke up sneezing, coughing, and with two very swollen tonsils. I finally caught the cold that I was trying to avoid. Great 🙁  I decided to check my symptoms online, and home remedies too. I love the first remedy: rest as much as possible, I don’t think that one is going to happen any time soon 😉

I’ve put a call in to the Doctor on call, as our family Physician is off today. I’m waiting to see if I should bring the kiddos in, or not. I know that most of the children’s cold medicines have been pulled from the shelves, and with me nursing I don’t know what is safe to take. It sounds like it is going to be chicken and noodle soup for me, but rest I don’t think so.

Any advice to get me and the kiddos back to normal? Do you have a homemade remedy that helps out during the cold and flu season?

The Day After (yucky post)

My goodness last night was a very long night, with one grumpy baby. Dylan wasn’t feeling well at all, and no matter what I tried, he would not go to sleep. He fought sleep until well past 3:00 a.m., even after I nursed him on the hour. Thade was also up at midnight, he said that his nose was stuffy.

I finally caught about 2 hours of sleep from 5:00 a.m.-7:00 a.m. Both Thade and Dylan were up by 7:30 a.m. I’m one tired Mommy today. This morning Thade still wasn’t feeling too well, and Dylan too had the stuffy nose. Around 1:00 p.m., while I was prepping the kitchen to do a giant stock the freezer day, Thade announced that he wasn’t feeling well at all, and threw up all over the kitchen floor. Luckily he missed Dylan, who was playing in one of his bouncy chairs. I got Thade cleaned up, and then cleaned the kitchen. I had a feeling that today was going to be one of those days.

I hope that Dylan doesn’t get the upset stomach like Thade. I had better try and get some energy back, just in case 😉 Thade is feeling better this afternoon, thank goodness.
