I lost 16 hours

Well I’m finally to that point where I have to do something about my migraines. Yesterday I had one of the worst migraines that I have ever had, and it lasted a good sixteen hours. I was sick all day, and I know that something has to be done. I’m starting a headache journal to track my migraines, and I hope it will give my  Doctor a little more information too.

I’m also researching birth control options, because I think that the added hormones might be part of the problem. I just hope that I can find something that works, because I don’t think that a Brain Transplant is an option…

To Do Before Preschool

With just a few weeks before Preschool starts I’m working on a To Do list for Thade and me too. We have a few things that need to get done, and a few fun things planned too. Here is what I hope to get accomplished before the first day of school.

  • James and I are going school supply shopping with both of the kids
  • Take a few “nature walks” to gather items for Show and Tell (everyday at school)
  • Give Thade a hair cut, maybe Dylan too
  • Get our “get out of the door on time” routine down. I’m so not a morning person, and Thade’s school starts at 8:15 a.m. (I think this one is a Mommy To Do)
  • Have the freezer and pantry stocked with easy Breakfast Items (Mom To Do)
  • Visit the park and look for Feathers at the Bird Exhibit
  • Take a mini-vacation with the Kids, and get plenty of pictures
  • Make a Leaf-book with Summer leaves for Thade, and one for Fall too
  • Start a Binder for Thade’s Art Projects

I’m sure we’ll have more items to add to the list before school begins, I just hope that we can get it all done.

Backyard Super-Fun

Our backyard is way more fun now. James finished putting the swing-set together on Sunday, and the kiddos are thrilled. Thade and Dyan have had a great time getting to go out and play. Thade loves the slide, and Dylan likes to push the rides.

I need just a little more time

This has been one busy and weird weekend. I needed to go to the store on Friday, but the day got away from me, so it didn’t happen. Saturday James and Thade were busy putting together the Swing-set, and then the rains set in for the day. I did manage to run to Dollar General for the bare necessities, Milk and Cat Food. Sunday we were still working on the swing-set, and James’ Mom came by to help.

We spent all Sunday afternoon outdoors and I still hadn’t made it to the store. The weird thing was as the day progressed I started feeling really bad and I started having sharp pains in my stomach. I was a little worried, so James watched the boys and I headed off to Urgent Care in the evening to have a few tests run. Everything came back negative, but the Doctor said that I might need to make an appointment with my regular physician to make sure that everything is o.k. with my c-section site. I have been doing a lot of lifting of kids and swing-sets, so maybe I’ve pulled a muscle or two. I’ll check back in with my Doctor if things aren’t better soon.

We finally made it to the store today, and thank goodness too we were just about out of everything. I also picked up a new Car Battery and hopefully my car will be up and running soon. I know James will be happy to have his car back full time.

I hope to spend the week catching up on all of the neglected housework, and baking a few treats too. It looks like we will have another busy week ahead of us here.

Mommy is not the IHOP

This Summer I have been one determined Mommy to help Thade eat and enjoy new foods, and try to lose his picky eating ways. Every night at dinner time Thade will ask “what is for dinner?” No matter what I say he will promptly add ” I don’t like it.” That is when I started saying “Mommy isn’t the IHOP, we are all having the same dinner!” That always gets a giggle from Thade.

I used to cave in and give in to the two weeks of nothing but grilled cheese sandwiches… But after Dylan came along and all of those extra dishes started to pile up, I decided no more extra menu items,we will be all be having the same. It has helped out, Thade still turns up his nose at many items, but he is giving new foods (including fruits and veggies) an honest try.

I take a little extra time and present Thade’s plate in a fun way, with kid sized portions. It also helps that Dylan will eat just about anything that you put on his plate, so Thade has to try the food too.

We are making great progress with our picky eater, and I’m happy that he is trying plenty of new foods. I know one day the picky eating won’t be a problem, the new problem will be attempting to keep the fridge stocked with two teenage boys in the house.
