Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

I don’t know if there is any better weekend breakfast than Cinnamon Rolls fresh from the oven. Although the store bought rolls are pretty good, I really enjoy making these weekend treats from scratch.

I use a great recipe for Sweet Roll Dough, but I’ve altered the recipe for the filling just a bit.  I use 1/2 cup Sugar and 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar for the filling. I go on ahead make a double batch, so we have plenty of Cinnamon Rolls for breakfast and snacks too.

I also added just a little bit extra Vanilla in the Glaze, because we love Vanilla around here.

The Cinnamon Rolls are a family favorite, and I’ve even taken these to MOPS a few times. Thade has a lot of fun helping to make the Cinnamon Sugar filling, and I just love the way the kitchen smells as the Rolls are baking. I hope to make them for Christmas breakfast for the kiddos this Christmas.

Eight for November

Yay! I cut way back on my driving for the month of November. I didn’t drive eight days out of the month, and I’m hope to make it 10 for December. Let’s see how the month goes.

Who Doesn’t Love Bacon

Recently I’ve been noticing a pattern, Bacon is everywhere, and everybody loves it… Well maybe not everybody, but many people do. My kids could eat their weight in bacon for breakfast, if only Mommy would let them. Recently I had a phone conversation with a great friend all about Bacon, and how awesome it is. I even got a cool catalog in the mail that featured Bacon wallets, Bacon band-aids, and even Bacon Toothpicks and Mints. Yep, bacon is super-awesome right now.

Last night on Top Chef, even Chef Rocco DiSpirito professed his love for Bacon, during the breakfast challenge. I totally have to agree with adorable Rocco, Bacon is awesome!

So what about you… Do you have that favorite breakfast item that you just can’t resist?

Snack Day

Today Thade and I were in charge of bringing snacks for Preschool. Yesterday we were busy in the kitchen getting all of the treats ready. Thade helped out with the veggies, but I had a little problem with the mini muffins. I accidentally burned my first batch, so I ended up making regular sized muffins, and cutting them in half for the kiddos. I think the treats went over pretty well today at Preschool, even though Thade said that he didn’t like the muffins…

The Christmas Parade

Sunday night was the annual Christmas Parade downtown, and it was cold cold cold.

We found a pretty good spot though. It kept the kiddos out of the wind and out of the itty-bitty snowflakes too.

It was a balmy 34 degrees, so the kiddos huddled together under a fleece blanket, and waited patiently for the Parade to start.

There were several Christmas themed Floats, and horses pulling carriages too.

This year the parade moved along pretty quickly, everyone must have been really cold on the floats too.

After the parade we drove around town and looked at Christmas lights. Both of the boys are so excited about Christmas this year, they just can’t wait one minute longer.

This weekend there are lots of Christmas activites going on around town, and I hope to take the boys to a few of them… If the weather cooperates.
