Surprises From the Boys

Yesterday I had a crazy craving for Puffy Cheetos… My hubby said to Thade, “go get your shoes on, and we’ll go and get Mom some Cheetos.” I stayed home with Dylan, who was taking a nap. I thought to myself that my hubby is way too awesome and super sweet for getting out in the evil hot weather to get me one of my many random preggers cravings. When they made it home, Thade was carrying something else.

I was so surprised, my boys made my day with the surprise flowers! The daisies are beautiful, and my guys are way too sweet!

Gardening in August

003

The Okra blossoms are my very favorite part of vegetable gardening.

006

They are just too pretty.

005

This season we have been lucky enough to pick okra a time or two. I had only 5 plants that made it, and next year I’m dedicating an larger portion of the garden to okra. Fried Okra is a family favorite of ours, even Dylan loves it.

The corn is doing well too, but it isn’t ready to be picked just yet.

Smiley Cake

My best friend and amazing cake baker/blogger Stacey paid us a visit this week. I knew it was her, before she even made it our of her car, as Dylan spotted her car while looking out the front door, and started screaming “STACEY STACEY STACEY!!!!!!” I had guessed that she probably brought along a cake too, because Dylan started screaming “STACEY CAKES!!!!” really loudly.

Oh yum! Smiley Chocolate Cake!!!

015

Dylan says: Stacey spoils us rotten!

Thanks again to Stacey for the tasty cake!

Nicostuff’s Belated 4th

Guess what I forgot? On July 31st it was my 4th Blogging Anniversary…

When I started Nicostuff, it was a suggestion from my hubby. I also thought it would be a good way to chronicle my daily adventures as a new Mom living in a new town, and adjusting to my new surroundings. Fast forward to four years later, and Nicostuff has evolved into being a blog about crafts, kitchen adventures, and my attempt at keeping up with a house full of boys. Who knows what the next four years will bring…

Thanks for all of your support and kind words, and your friendships too.

July’s No Driving Days

I am happy to report that thanks to an awesome month of no driving days in July, I’ve hit my goal for the year. I had 7 no driving days in July and that gives me 35 no driving days all together. I was hoping to have an entire month without driving, and I’m really proud of achieving this goal.

August is going to be different, school is starting, and I’ll be driving Thade to and from school everyday. I’ll still try my best to keep the car at home as much as I can.
