Kitchen WIN & Kitchen FAIL

Oh which one to write about first…. Let’s start with the hilarious fail first.

I was cooking dinner last night, and Dylan was “helping” me. He was at the table, sorta sitting on a chair, and I was stirring a big pot of Chicken Noodles on the stove. All of the sudden Dylan decides to slide out of the chair sideways, and the chair started to turn over. I drop my spoon, and go to catch Dylan on the chair as it is beginning to fall. Instead my hand gets wedged under the chair, so Dylan and the chair smash my left hand. Dylan was fine, I immediately had two swollen fingers that wouldn’t bend.

I panicked, and was worried that I just got 2 broken fingers, but the swelling started to go down by the end of the evening, thank goodness. Today I’ve got a giant deep bruise on one, and it still barely bends, but the swelling is gone on the other finger. If I could get the lighting right, I’d take a picture, it’s on my middle finger. So that is a little funny. Nico in the kitchen is one dangerous and hilarious mess sometimes.

So on to the kitchen win!

My mom came to visit this weekend and keep an eye on the kiddos while I got caught up around the house. She arrived with cookies, and a giant box containing an early Christmas/birthday present. I was surprised when she said that the present was for me…

I literally burst into tears when I saw what was inside the giant box. It was a 20 piece set of stainless steel Wolfgang Puck cookware! I was so shocked, and I truly appreciate the gift. My mom said “I wanted to give this to you for your birthday, and then I did the math, and figured out that you would be cooking 180 meals before then, so you need it now.” She is too sweet! I have to admit, it is really fun cooking with the new cookware.

Strange Hours

Dylan woke up at 3:30 a.m., the Little Miss was up at 4:00 a.m. It’s now 6:30a.m. and I’m still not asleep. I decided to attempt to look for Christmas gifts online. but couldn’t find anything. I guess I should get the coffee going, so maybe I’ll have a chance of staying  awake today…

Even More Cookies

As promised there are even more cookies coming out of the kitchen today. Tomorrow is our MOPS Christmas meeting. There is a big breakfast, present exchange, and a cookie exchange too. So I needed to make cookies for the cookie exchange, and a little something for breakfast. Everyone is bringing breakfast tomorrow, so I decided to make one more batch of peanut clusters.

At the MOPS meeting we are also putting together cookie trays for the nursery workers. They work so hard at every meeting to give us moms a much needed break.I know they will appreciate the sweet treats as much as we appreciate their help.

I made up a batch of Candy Bar Cookies for the exchange. These are my most requested cookie that I bake, and one of Dylan’s favorites too. I only needed two dozen, so there were plenty left over for my family.

The Cookie Factory

This week I was asked by my best friend Shaunna to put together a cookie tray for her Church’s Christmas Open House. I took a look at my pantry for cookie ideas  and got to work.

I needed to have six dozen cookies for the tray, so I made a double batch of Chocolate Peanut Clusters. I also made a batch of Cake Mix Snickerdoodles.

I still needed one more cookie, and it was too cold to go to the store, so I improvised…

I came up with a Vanilla Snowball cookie. The vanilla iced cookies are topped with shredded coconut and sugar crystals. They look  a little like snowballs, which is perfect for the wintry day that we are having.

Tomorrow there will be even more cookies on Nicostuff. Friday is our MOPS Christmas party and cookie exchange. I’ve got a few goodies in mind to make for the day.

Feeling Blue…

032

It started with a phone call, and it’s left me sad all day…

My mind is hurting and racing, because there is nothing that I can do…

I’ll be back to writing, when I have something happy to write about…
