Let’s Make This Week Better

It might seem a little funny, but I am one of those people who love Monday. It is a fresh start to a new week, and it seems to be my most productive day. It is also the day that the weekly schedule returns to normal. My hubby is back to work, the boys are back to school, and the Miss and I can settle into our peaceful days.

This week I am determined to make it a better one than last week…

Last week there were challenges every single day. I wasn’t feeling too good (seasonal affective disorder), and Dylan was challenging my patience every school morning.

Today started off that way too. I woke up Dylan extra early, in hopes that maybe with an earlier start, the morning would go better. Boy did it backfire on me. He didn’t want to go to school again, and he was doing his best to get out of going. I made him go, and we barely made it out of the front door by 7:30 a.m.

I hope tomorrow goes better.

I am going to start keeping track of the morning tantrums, and see if there are any patterns that I notice. I also have parent/teacher conference coming up soon. Hopefully his teacher and I can talk about it, and see if there is anything going on at school.

As for this afternoon. I’m going to get what I can done, and bake some Brownies too. I need some patience, and good vibes sent my way…

Weekend Project

This weekend I had planned on hanging out, crocheting a bit, and testing out a recipe…

My hubby had a different plan in mind.

We had been talking about working on the living-room again. We are thinking about investing in some new furniture, and well the carpet really needs to go. We decided that today was the day, and we got to work.

I had never removed carpet before, but it was a fun process.

It took us about four hours to pull the carpet, remove the pad, and then take out all of the nails and staples. There was also a lot of cleaning to do. I was surprised to see all the dust and icky-dirt hanging out under the carpet.

I loved the end result of the redo. We moved in the throw-rug from the foyer, so the kids would still have a spot to play. I think we are going to look for a new throw-rug at a later date. The living-room finally matches the rest of the hardwood throughout the house, and I bet our allergies will be a bit better too.

While it wasn’t exactly what I had planned for a relaxing weekend, it was a blast. My arms are pretty sore today, but I do love working on this old house of ours.

Thinking Spring

We’ve had back to back nice weather days, and I’m thinking all things Spring.

I’m ready for warmer days, and pretty flowers. I’m also ready for the bright blue sky, and flip-flops. What about you… What are you looking forward to most about Spring?

This Week

This week has been a short school week, but every day has had it’s challenges…

This week I’ve been really scattered. I haven’t been feeling to cheery, and I haven’t been able to get anything going. The house has gotten away from me, and I think all I’ve been doing is breaking up arguments between the kids…

Dylan has had a rough week too. He hasn’t wanted to go to school at all this week. He wakes up on time, and I’ve even moved his bedtime to an earlier time to fight the grumpiness. Every morning he cries, fights, and does his best to try and stay home. I still make him go, and tell him to do his best, and I’ll pick him up in the afternoon.

I’ve asked if there is anything going on at school that I need to know about. I also asked him if there were any kiddos that were picking on him. He answered no to both of the questions. I also haven’t received any notes or calls from the teacher, so I don’t think that he is getting into any trouble.

Maybe it is just a phase, but it is challenging…

So today the Miss and I are taking it easy this morning, and enjoying some quiet before the weekend arrives. I’m going to do a few chores, and maybe get outdoors a bit. Hopefully next week will go better…

Another New-New Crochet Project

I was working along just fine on my latest throw. I’ve been crocheting on the candy-color granny-row throw, but then I started running low on White yarn.

While we were at the store, I thought I would pick up some more, and they were out. Out of the big one, out of the little ones, and that is a bummer… I was hoping to get this project finished this month.

I still wanted to crochet, so I started another one.

I’m sticking with the “granny” theme. This throw will be full of bright solid granny-squares.

I’ll post some more pictures, once I start piecing this throw together.
