Last night at bed-time Thade said that he would like to try Oatmeal for Breakfast. I thought great, a healthy inexpensive breakfast, and Thade is wanting to try a new food, this is good:)
Early this morning we were in the kitchen prepping the breakfast, I was in charge of the stove, and Thade stirred the uncooked Oats in his Spiderman bowl. When the water was boiling, he happily handed over the stirred oats. After about a minute of me stirring and breakfast was ready. I waited a little bit for the Oatmeal to cool, and presented the yummy bowl of Brown Sugar Oatmeal. Thade looked at the bowl rather oddly, and poked at the Oatmeal with his Spiderman spoon. He said “this is Oatmeal, I like it better in cookies”.
He did try one bite, and then asked for cereal instead. At least he tried, and I got to eat the Brown Sugar Oatmeal in the Spiderman bowl for my breakfast, it was pretty tasty 🙂
At least he did try. Good job Thade. My boys will not do oatmeal either. Hope you have a great day!!! Blessings!!!
Thanks Marva! I was hoping that Thade would like the Oatmeal, so we’ll give it another try another day. He is so picky and anytime that he suggests a new food I try and make it for him. He comes from a long line of picky eaters, so it is a challenge.
I hope that you are having a great day too!
My kids can be picky, too. One little trick I used was to have them make a “secret recipe” for the family. So for oatmeal, I’d leave out some dried fruit, fresh fruit, jellies, almond butter-because dd is allergic to peanut butter, granola, etc. The kids are so proud of their secret recipes that they eat it all up. They still do it to this day. Everyone in our family likes my son’s “secret recipe” scrambled eggs better than mine!
So maybe Mr. Thade is a budding chef and can make a secret recipe for himself and mommy.
Thanks Mimi! What a smart idea! Thade loves to help out in the kitchen any way that he can. I’ll have to try out your “secret recipe” the next time around 🙂
