MOPS and Scary Movies

Last night the kiddos were off to bed, and I thought that I would call it an early night. My Hubby asked if I wanted to bring in my laptop and play a few games on Pogo. I said find a movie to watch and I’m there. We searched and searched for what to watch and we were going to watch the Darjeeling Limited (I heart Wes Anderson movies) , but I didn’t know if I was going to stay up that late to finish the whole movie. Then we spotted The Invasion starring Nicole Kidman, and we thought it looked like a pretty good (scary) movie to watch.

IT WAS SO SCARY, and I was up way too late getting the crap scared out of me. If you haven’t seen it, and you like creepy-scary-alien movies check this one out. You might watch this one in the middle of the day though, I’m still creeped out by this movie.

So I had quite a time getting to sleep and I was up past midnight. Thade woke up at 2:30 a.m., so I had to get him settled back down, and then Dylan was up bright and early at 6:30 a.m. I am so tired this afternoon.

This morning was Thade’s second day at Preschool, and his best friend was back, so he was thrilled. Dylan and I went to our first MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meeting and it was so much fun. Dylan made it almost an hour in the nursery, and I had a nice time getting to chat with other Moms, and enjoy a delicious breakfast. I plan on attending as many MOPS meetings that I can, and I volunteered to bring breakfast next time. The group is great and I can’t wait to attend all of the fun activities planned for the year. In October there will be a Sister-swap (free sale) of household goods and clothing, and even a Mom’s Day Out at the Spa in Spring! It is going to be fun!

I spotted a great yard sale on the way home that we might check out, but it looks like it is going to rain (again) so we might just be in today. Oh well, maybe we’ll check it out tomorrow.

What about you… Do you have a busy weekend planned? Or are you taking it easy and relaxing?

  1. Nicole,
I am so proud of you for going to the MOPS group. I am a tad scared of organized groups like that. I don’t know, just get that new kid at school jitter. But I have thought of joining a sorta nearby group just never did. It is hard to make new mommy friends. We moved here 2.5 years ago and have made some friends through our church, but all of those girls work so I do feel lonely alot. Enjoy your weekend- Heather

  2. Hey Nicole! Glad to hear you had fun at the MOPS meeting and I’m glad to hear Thade is having fun at pre-school 🙂 I was home today with dd2 as she is sick (sickly stomach, sore throat, and headache) and it is only the 3rd day of school 🙁 I took advantage of the free time and I have been a cleaning machine. DH and I are going to Costco tonight and for a bite to eat. DD1 has her high school soccer jamboree on Sat with 2 games and I signed up to work concessions for a while. DD2 doesn’t start her soccer games until next weekend so we have a free Sunday! I will enjoy that as I have a super busy week coming up next week. Have a wonderful weekend and no more scary movies 🙂 Hugs…..Ellie

  3. Thanks Heather! I know exactly how you feel… We moved here a little over 3 years ago, and I still feel like the new kid in town, ah small towns 😉 I have had a hard time making Mommy friends too.

I think that MOPS will really help. Our group was very diverse and filled with Stay at home Moms, Working Mom’s, Single Mom’s, Mom’s with multiples, and there was even one Mommy with 6 kids. The Moms were all different ages, and stages in life too. We had breakfast, lots of conversation, and it was a lot of fun.

If you check out a meeting let me know, and I hope that you really enjoy it. Sending big hugs to you too!

  4. That MOPS meeting sounds like so much fun! I tried a few play groups when Jake was younger, and I just didn’t enjoy them. Maybe if they were as much fun as yours, I would have stayed!

  5. Thanks Ellie! Oh no, I’m so sorry that your daughter isn’t feeling well, I hope that she is better soon. It sounds like you are busy all ready with soccer and school. Enjoy your free Sunday too!

I have always wanted to shop at Costco, it looks like a fun place to shop and save. I hope that you and your family have a great weekend!

  6. Thanks Susan! The MOPS group was great, and I hope that I’ll make a few friends. Dylan didn’t last too long in the Nursery, but next time I’ll have Thade along with me, so maybe he’ll do a little better 😉

I really enjoyed the breakfast at MOPS, it was nice and quiet and I didn’t have to get up and wait on anyone 😉 I hope that you have a great weekend!
