Yesterday morning Day Camp was canceled due to a fallen tree, and I was determined to turn the morning around for Thade. I told him to get up and off the couch, At Home Mommy Day Camp was a back in session 🙂
- Play Doh Beads
I thought it would be fun to make handmade beads, and learn a little about making secondary colors too. I asked Thade to wait in the other room while I set up the camp. I got out Play Doh, Waxed Paper, a Sharpie, one Paper Plate, and one Toothpick. I then spread out the waxed paper on the table and made color equations with the Play Doh and Sharpie (red+blue=Purple). I then let Thade squish away at the Play Doh and make the new color creations.
When he was all finished we rolled the Play Doh into pretty beads that we can string together for a bracelet or necklace. Thade loved this craft, and he had a blast watching the Play Doh blend into a brand new color.

Nicole- We have done that craft with our sunday school kids (Thade’s age) and they loved it too! Glad little Thade got through the day, that is so hard on them to accept the news when they are not expecting it(like a phone call saying no camp). Wishing for a happy Friday at Camp!
Thanks Heather! The beads were a lot of fun, and I bet that your Sunday School kids had a great time making beads too 🙂 Thade was a little happier after “at home day camp”, but he really missed his regular Day Camp. I hope that he will get to go tomorrow too!
You’re so smart, Nico. That sounds like lots of fun!
Thanks Susan! He loved the project, and it kept his mind off of missing Day Camp 🙂
Thanks Nana! Thade loved the project, and I had fun playing with the Play Doh too 🙂
